Portland >Salon Nyla The Day Spa
I love my hair. I recently left my regular hair salon. I wanted to get a new prospective on my hair. You know you go to the same stylist and before long you always look the same. I wanted a change and she wouldn't give it to me so I tried Salon Nyla. I am so happy with the style but most of all the love the color. I wanted a change of color for the fall and said you do what you think will look good. I love it. She put about four different shades of brown and fall colors. It is so beautiful. I love AVEDA and Salon Nyla. Want a change-then go to Salon Nyla and let them decide. I loved the place! My parking was validated, I was so hungry they ordered me lunch and all the staff were so friendly and professional. I will be coming back. Thanks
Best service yet!.
I couldn't have been happier with my first time experience at Salon Nyla! I walked in and was immediately taken care of. I was planning on getting my hair highlighted and trimmed, and what I got was so much more... the personal attention from not just my hair stylist, but from the whole staff was incredible. My stylist consulted with two other staff on what colors exactly to use, and the application of the products. It was as if I had 2 or 3 professionals working on my hair!
I've been to three different hair salons in the Portland area over the past year, and this beats every one, hands down! No complaints here! Glad I found Salon Nyla, because now I don't have to worry about my hair color or cut turning out badly ever again!
Salon Nyla The Day Spa has my highest recommendation!.
I have been a customer at Salon Nyla The Day Spa for over 20 years. My experience has been exceptionally good; the products are excellent. I particularly like the Aveda concealer and foundation. They both come in the same tint so they are easy to blend. The foundation is an oil-free moisterizer as well as a sunscreen (three for the price of one). The Aveda lipstick comes in great colors and lasts a long time. I love the Aveda Color Conserve shampoo because it preserves my color treatment making it last until the next color appointment.
The demeanor of the staff, stylists, manicurists and massage therapists have always been very pleasant and professional . I am always greeted with a smile and offer of beverage. When I am receiving a service the technician listens carefully to my wishes and concerns and explains different products that may be helpful.
Even though my experience has been consistently very good, If I am not pleased with the service, I have always been offered a solution free of charge and been reimbursed if the product does not work for me. They have always gone out of their way to make sure I am pleased with the outcome.
Through the years I have had several different hair styles and color treatments and have been impressed with the creativity and skill of my stylist. I always get compliments on my hair. The massages are to die for - really relaxing and pleasant.
I have always highly recommended Salon Nyla to my friends and acquaintences, and they have really appreciated the referral..
i strongly DONT recomend.
One star because 0 stars in not an option.
The reason this has an average of 4.5 stars is because all the 3 + stars are very old ratings. Things have clearly changed at Nyla.
The space is dirty.
Most of the employee are unprofessional.
The services are way over priced for what you get.
I had a manicure from the shakiest girl ever! My nails turned out terrible. There were tons of air bubbles. I could have done a better job.
I paid for a 30 minute massage and only received a 20 minute massage. When another employee confronted my masseuse, she said, "It's my last day, I don't care." And that basically sums up the mentality of most of the employees.
If I could do it over, I would not set foot into that salon. I suggest you don't.
BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I was sent to this salon by another company. The other company paid for the service. I was told my appt time was at 10am. I arrived to find out it was not until 11. I got an apology. I was unaware I'd be seeing a student until I arrived. I was told this person is very qualified w/14 month edcuation behind her & staff to assist. I had pictures of what I wanted for a cut & color. I was told it was no problem. This was the longest service ever. After 6 hours, I had to leave. I let go the time, getting sprayed with water several times, not getting a towel after getting my hair washed..since it was a free to me service by a student. However, the color was a mess by the time it dried & I could see how it turned out. The cut looks like she put my hair in a ponytail & chopped it. The color is everything i said I didn't want & was told I wouldn't get, white, brass & other various colors. I talked to the owner & adv my hair looked better before I came in. She will allow me to come bk & see another student to try & get it fixed (I guess I would take my chance here)but they want me to wait over a month for an appt. Is this a realistic time to fix a very poor hair job? The owner didn't reply but hey its free. I could have messed my own hair up for free & saved an entire day. Very POOR BUSINESS & she knows she is taking advantage of people. If your considering going here just get a box of color from the store & have a neighbor kid cut & color your hair. You'll hv a better chance of having it look good than if you were to come here. I've had a few people do my hair in my 40+ years, this was by far the worst ever!! A surprise a business owner would want someone to have hair come out like this & stay that way for all to see. Trust me if you could see my hair you would never go to Salon Nyla The Day Spa!! If you do go just know that you get what you get, not what you ask for!! only gv a rating because it's required to publish. they deserve the worst rating possible.
The staff was very nice and professional.
The person who cut my hair did a sufficeint job. However, having curly hair and asking for it to be styled curly I was dissappointed to leave with over conditioned, flat curls. I don't even think the my front layers were cut evenly.
Nice place, bad location.. I booked 2 massages last minute for me and my boyfriend. I really wanted to do a couples massage but every other spa was booked. I settled on doing our massages separately but really wished I hadn't. The inside is decent enough, I expected something a little bit nicer for the price. I did not like the location at all, the Embassy parking garage is small and poorly designed making it dangerous to drive or walk through. The area that Embassy hotel is in isn't as desirable as it once was and I saw several bums on our way in. (I guess what can you expect from Portland) We arrived 15 minutes early and sat until they were ready. They offered us wine (and didn't charge, I'm not sure if that was supposed to happen.) The massage was great and took the entire 60 minutes. It's nice they are open late otherwise we wouldn't have made it after work. Overall ok, but I think the next time I want a massage I will try somewhere else.
Friendly Staff, Great Customer Service!.
I had a great time at Salon Nyla. My facial was the best I've ever had, and I have had many. The girl who did my hair cut was super nice. She did a great job..... relaxing shampoo and awsome cut. I love the way she styled my hair.
My only complaint is the pedicures. They don't have the foot baths with the jets and the massage chair. They just use reagular foot baths and they had me rest my foot on her lap. I was worried I was hurting her and she looked uncomfortable. The manicures are was not that great either. I would not recomend going there to get your nails done. However, this is the best salon for hair and skin care.
Embassy Hotel's spa hosts on-the-go business types in search of a quick retreat..
Tucked in the lobby of the Embassy Suites Hotel, the location is ideal for downtown execs to pop in for a lunch-hour massage. The small reception area is cluttered with Aveda products, and clusters of people wait for appointments. In the salon, chatter echoes off the arched ceilings and the pedicure area has portable foot tubs and recliner-like chairs.Treatments range from Vichy showers and salt glows to seaweed wraps and hot stone massages.
Secret 80s Hair Lair _. I had a good initial experience, but when I left the second time I felt that my hair looked absolutely stupid. I do not know what the hairdresser heard me say but it wasn't, "give me an 80s teen movie bob, please!" I called the salon and complained -they had me back to see one of their lead hairdressers but in the 30 minutes they gave me she could not do much to improve the hair. My feeling is that they should have offered a complete haircut from shampoo to style... especially since they took my credit card number and said they'd charge me 30 or 40 dollars for a no show. NOT a recommended salon.
