Go back a century in time at this old Portland landmark, which has atmosphere in spades and a very popular daily happy hour (3-6pm AND late night)--try the $5 salmon cakes & $6 peel 'n eat shrimp. From what I can tell, it's probably also a good spot to hang out if your Mom's been pressuring you to marry a doctor or lawyer.

Great for HH, friendly bartenders, an old world vibe w/a mix of personalities. Classic martini's made superbly, finger food that satisfies
Way too slow last time. 3.5 hours to eat dinner due to incredibly slow service. Food was great, but overall experience was miserable.
This is my all time favorite place.. This is my all time favorite place. Always a nice place to go. Great service, food and bar is great place for happy hour.
Jake's is the Place for Dinning to celebrate special events.
My wife & I celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary last night September the 30th. What a great evening place to relax and eat and enjoy our evening.
Thanks, again

Violently ill after eating Jake's seafood. I got a horrific case of food poisoning after eating shrimp at this restaurant. I contacted them by phone and email to let them know about it, and never received a response. I was ill with SEVERE stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea for 2 days. I did contact the Oregon health department, so I would suggest staying away if you want to stay out of the toilet.
Eat the menu, not the fish.. If one could eat reputation and history, this would perhaps be a good restaurant. However, if one likes and appreciates seafood, stay far away from Jakes. At one point I considered putting salt on the menu and eating it. It would have had more flavor than any of the four dishes we had. How can one take fresh seafood and extract all of the taste? I have eaten seafood all over the world and I have never paid so much for so little. Is this a Portland joke? Is there anything less than one star?
First Visit - So Disappointed. The history of this famous Portland restaurant was the best part. And, the atmosphere is very happening. I love seafood. I had the worst fish and chips I've ever eaten. I don't treat myself to them often, and I thought oh they will be so good here, so I must! They were burnt! I really should have sent them back. My husband was also displeased with his meal. The prices are crazy expensive, which is totally fine as long as you get what you pay for. Won't go there again. Many other places which are not as expensive with better food.
Jake's Was a Hit!. Super-gracious host welcomed us, above & beyond gracious waiter suggested the best food we've ever eaten at any restaurant. Excellent presentation of food. Try the Oven Roasted Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon with dessert of Chocolate Bag (filled with white chocolate mouse, fresh raspberries, blueblerries, blackberries, topped with whipped cream and served wtih raspberry coulis). Yum! We weren't very hungry so asked to split the main course and dessert. The waiter did not look at all disappointed but admitted he couldn't eat a whole meal himself. We left him the super nice tip he deserved! :) Will definitely go back there.
Favorite Restaurant!!. This is my husband and mine's favorite place to eat. The dungeness crab tortellini and the stuff salmon are amazing!! We even got engaged at this restaurant... they printed the proposal on the top of my menu :) If you love seafood you have to try this place out.
A fond reunion.
Had not been to Jakes for many years - just too busy trying all of the new restaurants in PDX. However this weekend our plans changed last minute and our friend suggested Jakes and we were able to get a table.
Started with a drink in the bar where the bartender (wish I caught his name) was excellent. Made my wife's favorite (Sidecar) perfectly and poured me a nice Black and Tan. Excellent service.
Dinner was excellent. Started with the seared Ahi and the crab and shrimp cakes. Both were delicious.
For dinner I ordered the crab legs. I was impressed with the flavor and the size of the portion. Wife loved the stuffed salmon.
Shared a banana creme pie to finish off a wonderful meal.
Our waitress was very good - attentive without being overbearing.
We will put Jakes back into our regular restaurant rotation.
