Editorial Review for Mercantile – by Jodi Cararas
In Short
This 8,000-square-foot boutique is simple and fresh with pale neutral walls complemented by large glass storefront windows, modern light-colored furniture and stylish mannequins. Burberry, Missoni, Theory and other notable designer apparel is prominently displayed throughout the space. T-shirts are neatly tucked in white cubby holes. Less expensive clothing, such as Michael Stars and Tommy Bahama, also is available. There's also designer denim, lingerie, accessories and jewelry by Marc Jacobs, Crislu and more.

If you're looking for a high-quality wardrobe basic or for something a little bit different, you should definitely check out Mercantile. You won't fail to find something perfect for you among the racks and stacks of cashmere, leather, jeans, lingerie, jewellry etc etc. It's also (probably) the city's largest purveyor of Burberry. And the service is exceptional. If, like me, you find pulling an outfit together a bit challenging, the lovely men and women of Mercantile will help you without intimidating you. It's like consulting with a friend. And with convenient parking and plenty of other shopping close by it's easy to make Mercantile the centerpiece of a shopping outing. Have fun!
Pros: amazing selection of unique pieces, great service
Cons: a little hard to find (tucked behind the downtown nordstrom)

Despite what the editorial review attempts to imply, as I was born after the invention of the television, I do not feel that this store is marketed towards me. Yes, there are some nice items. Yes I could find some things to add to my wardrobe and call ‘basics’, but yes, I could also find these items at other locations for much, much less.
Pros: um, brand names?
Cons: i like to spend my money on my mortgage
