Food Poisoning!. I have been here before and had good food, so I thought I would take my mom here before a concert for her birthday- needless to say, we had to leave the concert because I had the worst case of food poisoning ever! I ended up being so sick, I fell down, hit my head and ended up with a concussion and a broken tooth.

It was very hot in the restaurant that day, I had pork carnita enchiladas.

Save yourself the misery and the dental bills.

Great for Lunch!. Went here for lunch the other day w/some co-workers, been looking for good "Mexican" in downtown and this was a great find! Lots of choices and the people behind the counter are friendly and helpful

The portions are big and really good. The meat/sauce could have used a little more flavor but other than that we will be going back!

delicious, fresh, great value!. i ate here with my boyfriend the other night and we were both very happy with it. it's not a fancy place but it's great for a cheap tasty meal - two people could be full and satisfied for under $20.

i got the enchiladas con carne combo - i chose chicken chile colorado for my meat, which was the "medium" spicy option and sooo delicious. everything on the plate was fresh-tasting and flavorful, even the rice and black beans, which are blah at alot of places.

my boyfriend loved his taco salad with carne asada, and said his house margarita was nice and strong. and their salsa is fantastic - fresh, spicy, addictive.

the food came quickly and the staff was friendly . the portions are a decent size and fairly cheap.

the only thing we didn't like was a fish taco, which had some weird sweet sauce on it and was otherwise bland.

Lunch at Mayas, Time to move on.. I have not eaten at Mayas in a year or two. I now work downtown and decided to go there for lunch. I got the lunch special, a chicken burrito, which comes with chips, and a Coke. Total, $7.25 - $5.50 for the special, 1.75 for the drink.

Their salsa is good and was disappointed that when my burrito came and I only got six chips. That?s right, only six chips! Why even bother? I overheard someone else complain about the amount of chips and they were told they could purchase a basket of them. I had two large cartilage chucks in my burrito, which is never good. When I asked for a refill I got a half a class of Coke, no ice. Has the price of ice gone up? Did I do something to make them mad? For a $1.75 for a drink, I expect a full refill with ice.

Mayas is off the recommendation list, way off. The food was not that good, the service was poor and for lunch, it is spendy for what you get.

Awesome in the summertime.... You want a place where you can have a decent margarita, eat some chips and spicy salsa, and do some great people watching? This is the place for you! Great little tables on the sidewalk right downtown. Excellent for just hanging out on warm summer nights. Portland Geocaching considers Mayas to be a top spot downtown!

Best Chicken Mole!. Maya's Taqueria has the best chicken mole I've ever eaten. It's rich, sweet and not at all bitter. The ambience is minimal, but the food is prepared in front of you to your specifications, the portions are large and the prices are low. In the summertime, tables outside are a great way to people watch and get some sun. Maya's has a separate bar that serves Mexican and American beer and makes great margaritas. Still, it's that delicious mole that keeps me coming back. Try it, you'll become addicted!

Spicy with Speed!. I chose to eat at Maya's at the recommendation of a coworker. I wanted to hug him when I got back from my lunch break, because it was great! For 2.95, you can get a Taco plate piled high with authentic-tasting fare. I got the spicy chicken with black beans. Very tasty! I definitely plan to return!
