I've been to this restaurant several times and have really enjoyed it but the last time I went, a few bites into my meal I bit something extremely hard! I thought maybe a shell, though i didn't order the seafood ginger, it was the chicken. To my surprise, and relief I didn't bite harder, there was a chunk of concrete (small rock inside and all) about the size of the end of a sharpened pencil (wood too). Thankfully I'd eaten worse in my past, think OCS, so I didn't think much of it besides that it's dangerous and hoped i didn't loosen a crown. So when they checked on us at the end of the meal, I told them what had happened and gave them the piece of the concrete. The two girls looked at it and started saying something like it wasn't in the food because it was dry. now I can understand that some people do this, but I'm a clean cut 24 year old and I'm not in desperate need of a free meal. So that ticked me off and I piped up that it'd been sitting on the table for a half an hour and yes it was indeed in my food and I bit down on it. They said whatever and rightly removed the cost of my plate from the bill. Well whatever to their chefs and I hope they pay more attention to what they put in. Moral of the story, so far 4/5 experiences enjoyable, one could have cost 100s in dental work = 3 stars. You be the judge and mind your fork.

I have mostly ordered here to go, and a sat down a few times. They have good food...it's what I would expect from a Thai restaurant. It gets pretty busy from time to time, but I have never had to wait to be seated. I would take a date here....then again I would take a date a lot of places most people wouldn't. I'm going to leave it at this is a good restaurant. The food tastes delicious...like most Thai food...and I would recommend it!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Portland. Not only is the food delicious, but the service, portion size and value are all excellent. The only negatives that I have for this place is atmosphere and parking. The tables are a bit small and the chairs on the uncomfortable side. If I had to guess, I would say that the restaurant could sit about 60 uncomfortably or 30 with room to spread out. This is not a reason to avoid this wonderful establishment though. It is not 'that bad' and most people would probably have no issue with it. My favorite meals from Thai Peacock are: Tom Ka (Coconut milk soup with mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions, flavored with lemongrass and lime juice), Phad Thai (if you don't know what Phad Thai is, you've never had Thai food before), Pad Kee Mao/Drunken Noodles (spicy rice noodles with veggies, basil leaves, and your choice of protein) Chicken Pad Ga Prau (Chili, bell peppers, onions, and sweet basil leave). I judge Thai restaurants by their Tom Ka. Phad Thai is hard to mess up, but if you can make an incredible soup... then I'm sold. Now it's not the best Tom Ka that I've ever had, but it's a good second place. Side note: the best Tom Ka that I've ever had was from a little place in Lompoc, California that went out of business soon after I moved. I seriously put their kids through college, I went there so often. When I left, they lost their best customer and couldn't keep the lifestyle that they had grown accustomed too with me coming in every day. :) My final word: Best Thai in town
