COCKPEE. MY GF AND I LOVE THAI FOOD. HER FRIEND TOLD HER ABOUT A PLACE RATED BEST IN AMERICA (THATS WHAT SHE TOLD HER). SO I TEXT MY GIRL TODAY AND ASKED IF SHE WANTS TO GO, AND SHE SAID SHE'D LOVE TO. WE WERE SO EXCITED TO TRY A GREAT NEW PLACE. WHEN WE WALKED IN WE THOUGHT THE WAITRESSES WERE MUTE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SPEAK TO US UNTIL WE HEARD THEM LATER TALKING AND LAUGHING AMONGIST THEMSELVES. IT WAS THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. THEY MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS ASKING FOR FREE FOOD. THE PLACE IS SO FILTHY, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I MEAN GO IN THERE AND CHECK THE MENUS. WE ORDERED PAD PHET AND CASHEW NUT. THEY WERE AWFUL. A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I WAS SO UNHAPPY UNTIL I GAVE MY FOOD TO A HOMELESS MAN OUTSIDE AND GOT TO MAKE SOMEBODY HAPPY. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO SOMEONE U HATE.  View Less View More

Thai Peacock is the Best.... A lot of people complain about this place but I feel most every bad review the persons are complaining to the point of just sounding like spoiled babys. This place is awesome, the yellow curry, pad-sew-ew, pad phet, lemon grass chicken is all the best in Portland. I've lived in Downtown for 6 years & constantly come back to this place. Don't let a few horribly written reviews steer you away from enjoying great Thai food.  View Less View More

The Worst Thai Place. Last night (06/17/10) my friend and I went to this restaurant "Thai Peacock". Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied with the customer service and hygiene.

First of all, the waitresses were ignoring us and took them thirty minutes to get an order from us. Although they weren’t busy at all because they had only two couples at the table.

When I made an order they brought me a different item and said that’s what I’ve ordered, and made it triple spicy that it was hard to eat.

In addition to everything, the waitress she was mopping the floor with gloves on and then she came up and refilled our water glasses with the same gloves as she washed the floor. The waitress without washing her hands and taken her gloves off she continued washing the tables, placing the silverware on the table, and then went back into washing the floor and sweeping it.

Later when I came home after half an hour my friend and I felt sick, nauseated. I was vomiting all night. Luckily I fill better now but I’m still concerned about the food that I ate. I called my doctor and I was just recommended to drink fluids and avoid that place. I did have food poisen however I could've get E-coli and then get kidney failure then death. I personally believe that they should be fined for inappropriate hygiene and customer service because my health could get worth. I work in the customer service, and I also have to follow infection control policies but what I saw it was rediculose.  View Less

Great restaurant, HORRIBLE AT TO GO ORDERS. I am very frustrated with this restaurant. I have never come across any restaurant, till now, who isn't willing to accomodate their customer's requests. All I asked for is to have the dressing left off of a salad, and just be sent on the side. They told me they couldn't do that, they could only do that for their Thai Salad. I have ordered this same type of salad many times to go from other Thai restaurants, and have never been told that they absolutely couldn't accomodate my request. I do not feel it is asking too much to ask for dressing on the side, besides the fact that the salad isn't cheap by any means. I don't normally take the time to write reviews, especially bad ones, but after being told they couldn't do this simple thing for me, I will never give them my money again. It actually put a damper on my day, after I was looking forward to this wonderful salad, and then it came to me, all nasty and soggy. TWO THUMBS DOWN FOR NOT ACCOMODATING CUSTOMER'S SPECIAL REQUESTS!!!!!  View Less View More

Possibly the best thai ive ever had. I would consider myself an experienced thai food eater coming from the LA area and trying numerous thai food places and thai peacock was one of the best thai food places Ive been to, if not the best.

I ordered the lobster balls for an appetizer, pineapple fried rice and cashew tofu and all of it was absolutely delicious. The fried rice had fresh large pieces of pineapple and they were not stingy with the amount of cashews in there and it was seasoned perfectly.

The cashew tofu is always the regular dish i get at thai resturaunts and it was seasoned so perfectly, the blend of sweet and spicy was exactly right and so was the amount of cashews--and the kicker was the way they cooked tofu--ive had some great thai food where the places still leave the tofu a little bit soggy in the middle or a tad unflavorful but this was literally the best cooked tofu I have ever had. It was done perfectly.

The price was good as well, the same prices for a hole in the wall thai place but the ambiance, location and service made us think that the bill was gonna 20 dollars more than it ended up being--in fact we read our bill wrong and we were still satisfied with that price.

My only complaint was that they did not take our finished plates quick enough, but still there was more than enough room on the table for them.

Amazing place!  View Less
