These guys are great. Took my not
terribly expensive watch in there today; one of the less important hands had fallen off. Everyone was very friendly. One of the guys took my watch, and I presumed that he was going to let me know if they could could fix it and then I'd come back some time later to get it. He pulled it apart right then and
there, fixed it and handed it back to me. Then walked away. I stood there for a minute, at a loss. All three of the guys behind the counter looked at me like "what?" and then the guy who fixed the watch asked if he could help me. With a squeak in my voice, I said, "I need to pay...?" "Oh, no charge." "Really...?" One of the other guys said, "Just customer service; won't get that on-line." Damn right. (I saw that same guy offer to clean a woman's rings while she waited for a $15 battery to be changed.) They sell some VERY serious watches and other jewelry there, and I wouldn't have been shocked or offended if they had seemed less than enthusiastic for my "business". But what a delightful experience. Highly recommended.
We discovered Watchworks last year when
I was in the market for a fine automatic Swiss watch. Sales and after sales service have been excellent.
From my experience, Alex stands behind his products and truly wants to make his customers happy. Whether for jewelry or another watch, we will start here.
I have been coming here for years to repair family heirloom watches and regular watches. On the last visit, Alex pointed out that the watch had four batteries and advised me of the cost prior to the repair.
Honest service, I will continue to come here and also plan for future purchases.
THESE GUYS SEEM LIKE CON ARTISTS TO ME.
I brought in a vintage Benrus "Three Star" 25J selfwinder that had been working flawlessly for 6 months. I had them replace the crystal, which was cracked, and the crown, which was missing when I bought the watch. I declined their $200-some-odd dollar cleaning and service, since the watch had kept perfect time without missing a beat for almost half a year. When I went to pick it up, they told me that there was no warranty on their work.
When I got home (160 miles away) I realized that the crown DID NOT FIT RIGHT, and wobbles even when closed, which leads me to believe that they did not use the correct replacement. To add insult to injury, my Benrus' sweep second hand now stops on the 16-sec. tick every minute, constantly losing time.
I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE WORK THEY DID. I FEEL CHEATED AND RIPPED OFF.
I HOPE EVERYONE OUT THERE WILL TAKE CAUTION WHEN DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY EXPECT ME TO COME BACK AND SHELL OUT MORE $$$ TO FIX A PROBLEM THEY CAUSED?? FAT CHANCE.
Not Just for Watches!. I originally went in to Watchworks to get a birthday gift for my husband (he has always wanted a Hamilton) and discovered that they also had a custom jeweler! I had some old, out of date items I had inherited but I didn't know what to do with them. Carter walked me through the design process and then turned out the most perfect earrings for me. If you want something unique without spending a ton of money, I highly recommend taking what you already have and brining it to Watchoworks. You will be thrilled with the results!
Best fine watch store in PDX!.
I have been a customer for 15 years and always had great customer service and been treated fairly. I have bought many fine watches from Watchworks and their prices are very fair for the high quality watches they sell. I just had my watch serviced and the work was done perfectly.
I would recommend them to anyone looking for jewelry or watches in Portland.
no thank you. My first experience here was nice but the 2nd time around was terrible. The guy told me my watch would probably need 2 batteries/ -Who ever heard of a watch needing more than one battery. As I've replaced this watch battery several times I set him straight. Then the very creepy jeweler in the back came out and looked at my ring and told me it needed to be retipped which he would do for $10 a tip, twice the going rate. The ring is just fine, all the setting are in good shape which I could see with my own two eyes. Then they told my boyfriend it would be $75 to size his ring, and took the time to tell him it is a cheap ring, which it isn't. All and all the service we both received separately was so terrible we will never go back.
Purchased yet another watch from Watch Works. I love the watch, and I loved the service. Still need to collect on my previously offered watch buffing, but overall it's a great shop.
great watch enthusiasts. I found this store while on vacation in Portland. I've always wanted a Panerai, and there it was in the window on display. I walked in and George was so helpful in showing me the watches. I ended up with the Panerai luminor with power reserve. If you are into watches, and want a fair price on the watch, this is the place for you. I looked on ebay, but I'm still the type who wants to see it first, touch it, and then buy it from a real person in front of me. I will be back, and I will buy again. Duncan was very helpful also. I can tell these guys share my passion for watches.
Great people and wonderful product.
I have been a customer of Alex for over 20 years. First in the little store and now in the larger location. I have bought and sold many items over the years. Alex knows and understands all of his merchandise and knows the true value of each item.
It is not a transaction sale it is a relationship sale. A truley unique place to shop and just stop in to visit.
