Portland >The Uptown Billiards Club
Upscale pool hall has a swanky speakeasy feel..
From the climb up the carpeted stairway to the vista of immaculate pool tables, Uptown Billiards has the feel of a private gentlemen's club. There's even a cozy den with easy chairs and faux-bookcase wallpaper. The waitstaff is welcoming, catering to the normal northwest Portlander clientele--not pool sharks, earls or gangsters.
Billiards is the main focus here and regulation-size tables available. Food and drink are affordable and well-presented. Expect fresh-juice cocktails and snacks like portobellos, grilled bread and fruit and cheese plates. Indulge in opulent drinks like the Beautiful (warm Courvoisier and Grand Marnier), or a single-malt scotch. The lengthy wine list ranges from reasonable to opulent, with Dom Perignon displayed prominently.
PDX's undiscovered secret. So I've lived here 15 years and never went to Uptown until a month ago... amazing service, perfect place to relax and play pool and have a $10 happy hour steak and lobster tail! Cozy, cool, relaxing...
V Good Fun+Food+Class+Pool+Wine.
Outstanding! And we didn't even know about the Hamburger!
We had Steak, Lobster, Lamb, Shrimp Cocktail, Apps, and Superb Wines-By-The-Glass.
We'll be back and we're bringing friends!
Low Key. NW 23rd is usally full of people that I would rather not want to talk to or spend time around, however Uptown Billiard keeps things nice and low key. The bartenders are attentive and the have Nitro Beers. If your looking for a good spot to play some pool and just chill out this is the spot.
10. I have never seen this place rated for its burgers on citysearch, but hot damn, this is the best burger in town. I have searched all over portland for a burger this good, and let me tell you, all those other places you hear about (stanich's ect...) don't even come close.
