In Short
Portland prides itself on a lively downtown, and this square is almost always abuzz with all kinds of people and activities. Once a parking garage, thousands of bricks now make up the Square, which hosts political rallies, concerts, flower shows, festivals and other community events. About 75,000 people donated money for the Square's construction by purchasing bricks; look closely and you'll see donors' names engraved beneath your feet.

Pioneer Square is a good place to enjoy and observe the city culture. It's definately a good spot for people watching. Also a good spot to enjoy nature, relax, or meet up with people. The fountain is really nice. I also like the weather machine, which announces the weather forcast at noon.

It is so nice to see a space that has been designated for the general public to enjoy. This is also a highly noted design that has made it's name known world wide. People can come and observe other people, watch cars go by, enjoy the nature of the city, and relax in a unique setting.

i love pioneer courthouse square. a relaxing place if there ever was one. fantastic place to get some thinking done, and observe human behaviour, from punk kids to little kids chasing pigeons. each season speaks to me here, with the cold wind whipping down morrison street in the winter, to feeling some serious heat on a hot july day sitting in the sun. i find solace here when i need some me time.
