THIS PLACE IS WAY TOO UNDER-RATED.. Been going here for years, never had one bad meal.If you don't like this place, then you must be ordering the wrong things, because Powells Seafood is the best. If i was being sentenced to death and they gave me my last meal of choice, i would choose powells seafood.

My favorites; Sauteed Green Beans, Salt&Pepper Squid,Crispy Chicken,Walnut Shrimp, and General Tsao's Chicken. I used to go almost every Sunday with my family, but we moved farther away. but we still go often. Forget about Panda Express, go to POWELLS SEAFOOD. no joke.

Best Chinese/Mandarin restaurant in Portland. I have been going here since I moved up from California in 2005. It is a great place to eat and it is where we take our friends and family when they are visiting us from out of town. They also catered my wedding and people absolutely loved the food!! Try: Salt & Pepper Squid, Seafood Fish Maw Soup, Ginger Crab, Beef & Broccoli, Chow Fun and their Fried Shrimp! You will not be disappointed.

Frozen Food?. I decided to try out a new local restaurant and stopped here by chance. I wasn't hungry enough for a full meal so just order the appetizer sampler. It was probably the worst appetizer I have had in recent memory. The barbecue pork was tough and discolored like it was stuck into a microwave too long. The fried shrimp and egg rolls looked and tasted like frozen, store bought, and tasteless. I took most of the meal to go and ended up throwing it in the trash when I got home. The other reviews here seemed to like this place but with the state of the appetizers I won't be going back to see if they buy pre-made main courses or not.

Great Restaurant. Most people would probably just drive by this restauant on Powell Blvd since it is very non-descript. The restauarant opened in either 1996 or 1997. We used to live near the restaurant and were regular customers - a couple times a month - through 1998 until we moved out of the area. We were usually the only Westerners in the place for the first few years.

We still get to the resatuarant a couple times a year and the wait staff remember us as some of their original customers. The salt and pepper shrimp is consistently amazing. Another favorite is the sauteed green beans. Whole crispy fish is another tasty choice. There is a large vegetarian / vegan friendly selection on the menu, along with some very traditional Chinese selections. The brocolli with chili has a terrific kick of chili paste.

It's great to go with a group of people and order about one dish for every two people since it is set up as "family style". The price is very reasonable for the quantitiy and quality of food you receive.
