The Owner

Paragon Restaurant & Bar Portland

Owner

Paragon is a lively yet sophisticated neighborhood restaurant and bar featuring american bistro cuisine, and tempting housemade desserts and signature house cocktails. Located in the heart of Portland's historic pearl district, the restaurant echoes the airy, spacious style of the surrounding art galleries. The Portland Paragon features a wide selection of signature cocktails - most made with our own house-infused vodka, tequila and rum. The bar stocks more than 60 brands of premium vodka sourced from around the world. A well-chosen wine list of 25 wines by the glass and a wide selection of domestic and imported beers are available. We feature live music Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 pm to 7 pm and house DJs Wednesday through Saturday from 9 pm.

In Short
Old-growth fir rafters, concrete columns, floor-to-ceiling factory windows, halogen fixtures, paintings by Northwest artists and muted beats of background techno music keep in line with the atmosphere of a Pearl District eatery. The menu also is a work or art. A minimalist wedge of Gorgonzola cheesecake shimmers atop orange tomato coulis in sweet basil aoli; chicken breast stuffed with a mushroom mélange, roasted asparagus and polenta. Other entrees include braised pot roast and halibut.

I am a resident of the Pearl District and have gone to Paragon many times. However, when I leave, I hardly ever leave satisfied. True, their drinks are amazing and I am sure they have nice waitstaff, but everytime I am there I get the rude or snotty ones. I feel like I have given the Paragon all the chances it deserves. Especially recently. The last time I was there was with a group of friends from out of town visiting me. I have never left a place feeling so looked down upon. Maybe I am sensitive, but then again, maybe I was treated rudely and inconsiderately. I certainly leave it to the reader to decide, but I certainly will not be going back there again.

I have been to Paragon on several occasions. We usually choose the outdoor seating as it is idea for people watching. The martini's tend to be strong, which is nice and the Braised PotRoast is amazing. It literally falls off your fork.
