The Magic Gardens is a small, locals stomping ground. The girls work hard and have a sense of humor when interacting with the crowd. The bartenders are quick with the drinks.
TOO MUCH FUN....... good place, a little shady but the girls were nice......but who isn't when they are high...i recommed it..
A good place for unwarrented trouble.
This is the place to go to IF you are NOT looking for trouble but get it anyway..Explaination,
The old lady bartender works during the evenings when this place is the busiest. She is SLOW and can't remember who is next in line or who she just served. Anyway She said I did not pay my bar tab ,which I had just handed to her two minutes earlier . Well she tries to get me tossed out and the bouncer is telling me to leave as I show Him and Her My receipt . . Yep you can get in trouble here without causing any trouble .
Located in Bad part of Town . .. Enjoy
Creepy people in and around. Dancers were cool though. They have some cool dancers & usually pretty good music playing - but the crowd is a little weird. Quite a few hipsters though so I guess it has its following.
bad dancers, bad food, bad drinks creepy staff. The dancers here are not very attractive and not enticing. The food is absolutely horrible. I got chips and salsa and a sandwich. The sandwich tasted old and soggy, I couldnt' finish it. The chips were standard store bought, but the salsa was watered down to the point that it was basically water with a hint of tomatoe. The bouncer was creepy and making rude comments to the dancers and the bartender was very rude. There is a one drink minimum and the drink I got did not taste like it had any alcohol in it. Oh yes, and it is in a terrible area of town. Lots of homeless people and prostitutes just outside.
An unassuming gem; good people, cheap pool, good music.... No pole, one stage, one pool table, and a whole lotta character; that's the Magic in a nutshell. Unlike other places "with character," however, the Magic actually manages to be almost human. The hotness of the dancers may be a dicey endeavor for some, but I've never really seen a dancer there I didn't like. If you're looking for one of those places where the girls are gonna hustle you for as many lap dances as they can get out of you to pay their stage fees, forget it; dancers at the Magic are just there, which is nice, because it makes the atmosphere more laid-back and (if such a thing is possible at a strip club) genuine. Sure, the small room makes for a smoky and claustrophobic space on busy nights; but if you want a spacious meat market, go to Mary's. If you want a nice place with few bells and whistles, and dancers that actually know something about music, stop by this little place.
What's the deal?. I love the set up of the place. It could be really great. Someof the girls they have working are just proof that anyone can get a job dancing in Portland. Seriously some of the girls they have during the day are 100 times better looking than the night shift. I was told they fill shifts according to who has worked there the longest, and it shows. They should get a clue and put the hotter girls on night shifts. After all, that's who we want to see.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Restaurant and fully nude strip club in Chinatown offers daily lunch specials, full bar, video poker and pool.
Get rid of the SMOKE !!. Great old bar with tons of history but my god, the smoke was so thick I couldn't see the stage. such a buzz kill. can't go back: my eyes were kill'en me; shame since the dancers were great.
best strip club I been to, by far!. I've been to Union Jacks, Sassy's and Mary's in portland, but Magic Gardens just became my favorite. the dancers were beautiful, very friendly, and very talented. the atmosphere was extremely comfortable, even when crowded (the population density fluctuated between sparse and packed several times during my visit). the clientelle were trendy, but not too trendy. the service was good, except when it was packed (only two bartenders), but that can be said of any bar. the food is supposedly good, but I didn't order on account of being...distracted. drink prices were higher than I like, but not too high (comparable to any Mcmenemins pub). way better than any of the higher-profile joints in town.
all around poor. The bar was VERY smoky and very crowed. Drinks were like $6.50 a pop took forever, and the girls were snotty and unfriendly. I think the magic has faded.
