No longer at this location... I was looking for a new sushi place to try and wondered down here for lunch. There is now a restaurant called "NW Burger" in this location. :(

From a sushi loving couple, you can find better. This place is extremely easy to overlook as it is in a seedy part of town, neverless there is something to be said for this place. The menu is creative, but you get the feeling that the fire and passion of making the special rolls and sushi on the menu left the sushi chef years ago. Wonderful mixes of ingredients on paper turn out to be a mess on the plate. Little artistry to be found, and the taste is sub-standard. The place could use a little renovation that might put a creative jolt back into the sushi chef. Look elsewhere for great sushi in Portland (because we are fortunate enough to have a few places that are spectacular).

Best secret in town!!!!. My husband and I enjoy searching for the ultimate sushi restaurant and trying something new, although exciting, has not proven to be a great experience. Not this time. Last saturday we went to Obi Sushi Bar and we LOVED IT!!. The chef's creations are aswesome!! the fish is fresh and smooth as butter!! The service is wonderful!! We ate so much and tried so many new rolls ( the rainbow roll was yummy!) and got tea... a delicious juicy orange at the end and the bill was under $30 dollars!! We will definetly go back and got some business cards to give to our sushi loving friends!

I'm an Obi Regular. This place means a lot to me, and I support Obi as often as I can and have since I discovered it when I first moved here. The food has almost always been wonderful. On a few rare occasions the fish wasn't completely fresh, to concur with the gentlemen below about his tuna. But in general the sushi here is great, cheap, good quantities. For myself, I can spend between 9-12$ and have an amazing sushi meal. I love the Salmon and the Hamachi here. I'm also fond of the Ume-shinko roll (plum paste with mint leaves) and the edamame here can be amazing. And they give you edamame, miso and a sliced orange with every dinner. The old chef is a strange but beautiful gentleman - and the waiter is Hispanic. Together, they are the crew that runs the place. Their english isn't perfect, but they serve great sushi.

oregon rolls. Having been to marine polis many times, I hardly ever went to a sushi bar which allowed ordering. When I went to Obi Sushi I immediately went with my favorites - cucumber rolls - and a new one - the oregon roll.

The cucumber rolls were okay. By that I mean that I had experienced better, and at a far better price. Nine Dollars for a small plate was a lot, at some places it's six for a dollar.

The oregon roll, however, was great. The thing was huge, very good, with salmon, mushrooms, among other things. Very very good service, the people were nice there, around lunchtime it is quite empty which is very nice.

Not that Great. We recently went to Obi after reading the reviews here and have to say were disapointed. It is a cozy little restaurant and we liked the attitive service. However, the fish was less than fresh. That is very high on my list of important factors for successful sushi experience. I don't like to spend time wondering if I would be ill the next day as a result of a meal. I actually didn't eat the tuna at all because of the un-fresh fishy flavor. It was cheap, but I'd rather spend more and get wonderful super fresh sushi at Mio or Koji Osakaya.

Hidden Gem. Reasonable prices, huge portions, fun atmosphere, wise and experienced sushi chefs.

The best sushi in PDX. Obi has the best sushi in town (also check at Yuki), the service is friendly and quick, and if you go for lunch, they have great specials.
