Editorial Review for House of Louie – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Dramatic dragon pillars welcome you into this bustling place where dim-sum carts circulate daily. If you can't make it for dim sum during lunch hours, you can also order it off the menu anytime. For dinner, there's Cantonese-style sirloin cubes sauteed with sweet onions and tomato sauce. Or try the Triple Crown--shrimp, barbecue pork, and sliced chicken cooked with pea pods, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and vegetables.

My best friend and I were out for a day in China Town. Ending here after working up quite an appatite. The food was spectacular... Until we found a METAL SHAVING in her food... An inch long and spiraled like cast-off from a lathe. Scared the heck out of us. We tell the waitress who tells someone else (never identified themselves) and she comes over to look at it then asks her 'well what do you want me to do about it?' Offered us more food but at that point neither one of us are touching something out of that kitchen. A piece of a spatula breaks off, some small piece of plastic no one notices, even a hair I wont get sick at... But a piece of METAL!!! We went in there because they had a plaqard naming them as 2005 winner of best chineese in town. Never going back. Not only was it a spooky experience but the staff was rude once we pointed out the dangerouse material lurking in her chowmein. They gave us 50% off the tab. AFTER asking us 3 times 'well what can I do about it" in a very snotty tone. Never going back. I'd rather try one of the other 50 places in the same block than go back.
Pros: fantastic food
Cons: dangerous garbage in food and HORRIBLE service

The only upside is they charge 40 for tea rather than other places that charge 1.00 Did a comparison jaunt with House of Louie and Fong Chong. Ordered the Pork Shue Mai and the Steamed BBQ steamed bun. The BBQ steamed bun arrived well, but upon tearing into it, it turned into the consistency of shredded pulpy paper. I've never seen anything like it. Left after 10 minutes, and only 5.00 for two dishes and tea. The servers are quite lovely, and have genuine smiles on their face.
Pros: cheap tea, good shue mai
Cons: pulpy papery steamed bun
