love it for the rough edges, I come back for the food. I love the Marathon Taverna for the rough edges, and I come back again and again for the food. The breakfasts are inexpensive, but the Greek food is where 'it is at'!
Great place with horrible irrational staff.
This used to be one of my favorite places until the last two times i've gone there, the bouncers have gotten extremely aggressive and kicked me out for no reason. I was sitting at a table with my
husband having our second drinks, not being loud or especially interesting.
I'm a small girl and the bouncer told me that i was threatening him and physically dragged me out even though i wasn't arguing or putting up a fight. I think this place has gotten lucky that they haven't been charged with assault..
This has happened to a few groups of people I've talked to. We're all professionals usually just out for drinks after work on a Friday.
I'm dissappointed because we used to take big groups there all the time, but never again, not even for the delicious gyros.…
Bad Bar, Terrible Staff!!!. Bad, mean staff. They don't wait on you or serve you, they just treat you badly and cut you off before you are drunk!.. BAD BAD BAD!!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!
Rude Service.
I go there maybe once or twice a week, but not any more after the second time I get treated bad in this place from the same bartender. I think she is the late night manager (go figure hehe) so I was
waiting for her to turn back to me so I could order a drink while she was talking to customers. After maybe 3-4 minutes she is still talking and laughing. I went to her and waved, then after couple minutes she came and said: I'm in the middle of a conversation!!!!! can't you wait? huh sorry Biiiittch for ruining your million dollar contract!!
that was Monday May 24 2010
for 3 years in a row and she is still there... I really don't recommend anyone who wants to have a good time to go there.…
Highly Unprofessional Staff.
Myself and 3 friends went to Marathon Taverna last night. We were not required to show ID to enter, and went in and sat at the back of the bar.
Almost immediately, one of the bouncers came up to me and asked to speak to me outside. I complied without any resistance.
He told me that "2 people told me you flipped me off" which was completely untrue, and I responded as such. We were at this time right at the threshold of the font door. He repeated his claim, and I also did.
I did not offer any resistance other than verbally telling him that the claims were untrue, and in a calm, non-threatening voice. I asked to see who these people were to substantiate his claim.
At this point, the bouncer did not reply as he knew his claims were untrue, and shoved me. I slid backward down the slope to the door and fell down onto the sidewalk because I was wearing dress shoes with little grip. I skinned my knee and tore a hole in my pants and we left.
There is no reason to be assaulted by the employees of a business in this manner for no reason whatsoever other than stating that their claims of my behavior is untrue and asking them to produce the witnesses they claim.
Further, this business is located on Burnside, which in my opinion is a busy street even at night and someone pushing patrons at the door on the narrow sidewalk could very easily result in someone falling into the street and having serious injury if a car is driving by.
I used to go to Marathon quite often, but highly unprofessional treatment and is potentially very dangerous. I will never go here again and recommend that you do not subject yourself to this possibility either.…
