A comfortable, dark and very entertaining dive bar with red vinyl booths, velvet paintings, jukebox, punching bag game, pinball and a photo booth. The small plate of nachos makes an ideal share plate or late night nosh.
Order a Pabst and slide into one of the booths at the laid-back Matador, the hip alternative to the blue collar bars on the Burnside strip.
Always feel at home.
I love this bar. I got to know it very well when i lived upstairs from it for a year. Rebeca the blond glamazon bar tender makes ridiculously fierce creative cocktails called "fuzzy unicorns" that always get me feeling good. The lovely door girl Rose is always on top of keeping Burnside burnouts out of the bar and looking good doing it. Casey, Lara, Amanda and Rob are equally fabulous to get drunk by. The food is very classic bar food, super cheap, terrible for you and oh so tasty. My favorite is the grilled cheese. The drinks are unthinkably well priced and generously poured. Pitchers of PBR are $5 and well drinks are I think $3.50. I think i have spent around $90 in their awesome old fashion photo booth with friends over the last two years. The D.J.s are always really good, there is a different theme every night. This is the best place to have a party, I've had my birthday here the last two years and will continue to forever. There isn't really a dance floor but random dance parties often happen in front of the D.J booth when favorite songs are played.
I will always love this bar.
I am very sad to not live upstairs anymore but my liver may be happier. I think I'll go tonight. You should too!

Best Dive Ever!. So you don't like smoke filled bars, occassionally questionable patrons and SUPER loud music? Then take your yuppy loving self somewhere else. For rock and roll, super stiff drinks and a real Portland experience, you can't get any better than the dor. Sorry if your shoes are a little sticky and your clothes smell like an ashtray when you leave sweetie, but you can get cosmos at the Brazen Bean instead.
Ever wonder what goes on inside a bullfight-themed bar? Just follow the red brick wall and lurid neon..
In Short
Dark and smoky; grungy, raucous and occasionally gnarly, this red-lit den is decorated with velvet toreador paintings. On busy nights, the long, narrow space becomes a formidable gauntlet of rockers, hipsters, punks and weirdos, stretching along the bar to the pool tables in back. The kids come to party, attracted by a Wild West saloon vibe-meets-backstage pass feeling that anything can happen. Mexican fare is a welcome alternative to typical dive bar fries and nuggets.
Only Pabst on tap?. Went here to drink and play pool because of other good reviews. The pool tables were seriously off level, the cues were bent and broken, and the only thing they had on tap was PBR. Won't go back
I Love It!. Yeah service could've been better, but it is a crowded bar especially on the weekends. How can you not love 25 cent pool!?! Pitchers of PBR are super cheap and the jukebox has a great selection. Did i forget to mention they have super hot bartenders??? Defenitley a bar to hang out at for the Portland hotties.
anti-posh. a very cool dark brooding dungeon to hang out and play pool. the drinks were great, the food needed to be served with tablets of Tums, eclectic mixture of subhumans. I love this place, however the bartender ignored and/or treated myself and my friends (yes, all females) negatively because perhaps we looked too clean. very strange. still a cool hangout though, because I'd rather pool there than at rock bottom, or some other yup/frat establishment.
