Good for a laugh.
We had a good time. The four of us shared a good nacho. Parking was scarce. Mixed drinks were weak.
They need to do something about those tiny bathrooms.
Overall, a good change from the norm.
Not bad, but not great either.
My husband and I went to Harveys for our anniversary on April 24 since we enjoy stand up just as much as the next guy. After paying for our tickets on-line, we checked in at the door, and was told to see the guy inside, who immediately asked us, "did you pay for your tickets or did you get them free?" We told him we paid for them, and he proceeded to put us in the back of the room. I then, ahem, reminded him we PAID for the tickets, and then he put us not in the 4th or 5th row, but in the very furthest front table, so we were kind of looking UP at the comedians (one extreme to the other). It seemed odd to me since we had indeed PAID for our tickets and other folks who clearly got freebies had better seats than we did, but we couldn't sweat it too much. We were there to have fun after all!
Our waitress was on top of it, getting us beers right away and always checking back with us to see how we were doing. We appreciated that, particularly considering some of the negative reviews listed here. I think some of the folks complaining about the service may have been of the same ilk of the rowdy beer-saturated crowd that no server really wants to go near anyway!
The comedians were eh-eh. Both acts seemed like they were making things up on the fly, like "oh, I do this all the time, so I don't need an act" kind of thing. But really we didn't expect Robin Williams or Ron White, so oh well *SHRUG*. In the end, we had fun, and we do plan to return and check out other talent.
Will not Return. Food was expensive, poor service and was imbarressed by staff after being asked to come on the stage by the comedian. Lost camera that was on the table before we left. And when reporting the inncedent the staff was very rude and never returned my phone calls.
They give tickets away because their service is substandard and 1 out of 5 comedians are mentionable. We've been to Harvey's 5 times. They have had 2 awesome comedians, the rest were career challenged. The fifth time was horrible. They gave us free tickets, but the manager, (white guy, not the other one), was extremely rude. He was extremely classless and it was like since THEY gave us free tickets, that we were expendable. We were sat, by him, behind a pole, we were really early, so there were plenty of open tables. We moved to an open one and he came over frantic with a tone and "said you can't sit there!" Some tables had reserve signs, the table we moved to did not. The service has always been slow, the drinks have always been weak, but they are the only comedy club. If you go, just don't let them get away with the typical substandard treatment, especially with this economy and the value of a returning or new guest.
have been several times and LOVE IT!!!. I have been to harvey's several times over the past 10 years. I have always had a great time. the food is a little spendy, but most of the time you can get free tickets if you call ahead. It is definetly woth checking out.
Great acts but bad food and weak drinks..
My friends and I go only when we are offered free tickets and it's an off shoot that sometimes we can get seated when some of our party are missing, and sometimes not. I'm pretty careful about what I eat and most of the dinner selections are deep fried. The food is also pretty slow to get to you. The turkey dip is a good order though, although the last time I went there, which was 2 weeks ago, all of the fries on the plates at our table were pretty cold. I almost asked the waitress to take them back and bring me some hot ones, but the food had already taken long enough to get to us the first time. We had to keep asking for things like salt, ketchup, silverware. The drinks are usually pretty weak and most of the signature drinks are $7 and up. My husband is a drink lightweight and he had 4 cocktails and said he felt no buzz whatsoever. I find them weak as well and usually stick to vodka and tonic or something. The aweful kicker was that I ran my debit card through the bar's ATM and it canceled me out the first time, so I tried again a minute later and got my money. Several days later I was looking at my online banking and saw that Harvey's ATM double-charged me, including the surcharge..and gave me a pretty fair runaround in helping me remedy the situation. I finally had to contact my own bank to get assistance.
All in all, go if your expectations are not very high. The acts are great and thank goodness it's a smoke-free establishment.
Over priced and they will add on their own charges. My husband and I had FREE tickets to Harvey's so we convinced another couple to go with us. I must say the comedians were histerical. Our friends ordered a salad and when it arrived it was brown. Not just a leaf here and there, but every piece of lettuce had brown edges. YUCK! Would you eat brown salad? So they send the salad back. The waitress rolls hers and makes a stink over returning it. So guy friend decides he isn't going to leave a tip, they had the audacity to tack on an additional $20 charge to his bill for not tipping. All in all Harvey's food is subpar and overpriced. Go for a laugh not to eat or drink!
They ruined our evening.... We decided that it would be a great idea to go to Harveys for my friends bachelorette party. I had made arrangements with Harveys to go to their Saturday evening show. I confirmed by email and also by phone the day of the show that our reservation was still standing. When we arrived with ten girls in tow, they wouldn't let us in and told us that the show had been sold out and would not grant us access to the club. It was a huge let down to my friends last night as a single girl. We were left out in the rain by Harveys Comedy Club and I will never give them my business again. And I know that NONE of my friends or family will ever go there ever again as well. Harveys dropped the ball and now has lost my business forever.
good laughter. The comedians were awesome. We laughed so hard I could not feel my stomach by the time we got out of there. We did not eat, but we drank, and the service was pretty prompt. Even if it hadn't been, we were there for the fun, and we got what we wanted. I still start laughing at some of the jokes I heard last night. Great place!
Worst Service EVER. I went to Harvey's for the first time tonight and the experience will not soon leave my mind. We arrived early and waited to be seated. Once seated, we waited over 20 minutes just for the waitress to take our order. It took another hour for our food to arrive. Our appetizers arrived with our meal. We kept asking the waitress about our order and she said "Any minute now". We saw people get seated after us, order after us, get their food before us, finish their meal and have their plates taken away before we even got our round of drinks. The chicken was dry and the bun for the burger was burnt to a crisp. The waitress would not discount the tab or bring us the manager when we asked repeatedly. It was hard to enjoy the comedians when you spend your time hungry and bickering with the waitress. The waitress looked at the receipt I signed and noticed there was no tip and proceeded to argue further and ruin our time even more. We will never go back and I would never recommend this place to even my worst enemy.
