A Woman's Time

Menopause Options and Natural Medicine

  • Clinic
  • Health Boutique
  • Feminine Products

A Woman's Time was co-founded by Dr. Tori Hudson, Naturopathic Physician, and her sister, Karen Hudson, M.P., H.C. in 1995. The clinic was established to especially serve the health care needs of women, utilizing natural medicine in the context of an integrative health care model. They utilize the whole spectrum of health care - alternative and conventional medicine--with the treatment options being individualized to each patient and each clinical situation. This model of health care is called Integrative Medicine--maximizing the strengths of alternative therapies and conventional medicine while minimizing the weaknesses of each. Providing options in the management of menopause symptoms, and the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and heart disease is one of our main missions. They treat each woman individually by assessing her specific symptoms and identifying her risk factors.

Good: The NDs will sit down with you and comprehensively discuss your medical issues and concerns. They can collect blo od for lab tests and look at all possible causes of symptoms and issues, rather than going for the "quick-fix." Bad: The office is pretty ratty, reminding me of my first college apartment. The upstairs of the old house smelled like cat urine (I sure hope that's not what it was). The bottle of natural stress-reducing supplements was nearly $50 (hard to swallow). And I agree with the other commenter - the office staff is EXTREMELY unprofessional. They behaved like a bunch of high school girls in a locker room. I was pretty shocked, and embarrassed for them.

The office staff could have and should have informed me that my doctor was running late. But they didn't. I was in that waiting room for a good half hour before the doctor came to get me, and I wasn't the only one twiddling my thumbs. There were others waiting at least as long as I, and the office staff acted like we weren't even there. Except at one point, two of them were giggling and whispering to each other and pointing at me. When I met their gaze, they burst into laughter. However, they did not share the "joke." My doctor was great, but hell if I'm going back. Any place that makes fun of their patients, at their expense, is no place I'm spending my money.

Pros: Dr. Kaplan is very gentle

Cons: Clueless staff, parking
