The one and only!. I've been a customer here since 1983 when I moved into the neighborhood and I immediately became addicted to the delicious and inexpensive deli sandwiches that taste exactly the same now as they did way back then!

As another reviewer has stated, part of the charm of this store was the family that owned it, but it really hasn't changed much in appearance in nearly 30 years (save for a portion of the store space being taken over by the nail salon next door).

I've long since left the neighborhood, but I still come here at least every few weeks for a sandwich. I can't really explain WHY they are so good, but they really are!!

Cozy, friendly, amazing greek salad and sport drink selection. Open late!!. I agree the the first review. The original greek owners are what drew people into this shop. They were awesome and always greeted me with, "Hello dear. Good to see you. How are you?" However, once in a while one of the greek men will make an apperence and put on an apron for a few hours. Overall, this place still rocks. The newer people who work there are still pretty darn nice and they will watch and make sure you get out of the store safely and down the street if any of the everpresent NW 23rd "homeless people" happen to be paying a visit to the shop or surroundings. You can get great sandwhiches, a good bottle of wine, and the most amazing greek salad ever!!! I have asked for the dressing recipe several times and they WONT give it out to anyone. Plus, this place is open well until 1am, I believe. Great when you work late.

Beats Plaid Pantry--and It's a neighborhood place!. Honestly, I miss the old Greek owners. I've been in the neighborhood for 10+ years, and going into the Lovejoy Market was always a treat. They were friendly, they remembered you visit to visit, even if they were slightly distracted by WWF wresting on the TV perched in the corner by the "deli.". And, most importantly it was family owned, and it was NOT Plaid Pantry. Grab that energy drink on the way to work? Check! Grab a sandwich or Greek salad for lunch? Check! Grab a six-pack or wine for the evening? Check! Needless to say, I was skeptical when the new owners (I heard they were from California) took over. I stayed away for a bit, mostly because I don't like change, but I've been back more and more this past year. I'm pleased to say that not much has changed--they still have a decent wine selection (for a "convenience store") and the sandwiches and salads are still available. The TV in the corner is still on. And so far, everyone behind the counter that I've dealt with has been friendly, and, like any good neighborhood joint, remembers your face. Although I still miss the old bald Greek guy yelling at Daniel the homeless guy when he stood in the doorway, and admittedly, their Greek personalities cannot be replaced, I'm happy to return as a customer and support the new owners. It was a neighborhood thing, and it still is. Spend your money here before going over to that dump of a place called Bad Pantry.
