very low-key atm, attentive service, one of the McMenamin chains, so all the same food you would expect from there (cajun tots are great)

Not my favorite anymore...what a shame!. I'm so bummed out that one of my favorite places to have lunch downtown, on a nice sunny day, has disappointed me again. My husband and I have eaten here several times and always loved it. However, the past two times, including today, were horrible. I ordered the fish and chips, usually my favorite, it came piled on my fries that were soaked in oil. underneath the fish were puddles of grease. When I asked the server about it he simply stated that's how it prepared. Well, I realize you fry the fish but can't you dab off the excess oil instead of letting my fries soak it up? The time before I brought with me out-of-town guests to eat there. One of us ordered a soup and the waitress spilled it all over the plate the soup bowl came on and didn't bother to clean it up. That time the fries and Portland dip sandwich were cold. Sorry, although I do love the Ruby's the food and service here is no longer good. What a shame!

Fun Local Pub!. We've been going to Ram's Head for many years and it never disappoints! Their beers on draft are really tasty, as is the food! I like their burgers and fresh-cut fries. It's a comfortable local place with lots of booths inside, plus tables outside for enjoying the local flavor on 23rd.

Tasty, comforting food in a relaxed setting. My wife and I have eaten here a few times and always enjoy the experience. Everything we've tried has been excellent, with our favorite being "The Cannonball," delicious Potato-Cheddar-Beer soup served in a toasted bread bowl. The burgers and sandwiches are likewise tasty and the tater tots are perfectly crisped. We love the deep, intimate booths, though sometimes they can be a bit of an impediment when you're trying to attract your server's attention. That to my only real quibble with this establishment: the dining room is understaffed. There are usually only 2 staff waiting on the 20-odd tables and it can be a lengthy wait before one of them notices that you've come in and sat down. They've always been very friendly and helpful, just stretched a little thin. Also, there is usually a faint smell of cigarette smoke lingering in from the bar area. It's not enough to be seriously off putting, but we've noticed it everywhere we've sat, regardless of our proximity to the bar.

Great cozy ambiance, funny waitstaff and cheap food!. Living only a couple blocks away this is one of my favorite haunts. The staff in the bar are just down to earth and funny making for a better dining experience. The cajunized tater tots for starters are excellent and really inexpensive, totally good compliment for a pitcher of beer after a long day at the office. I'd say overall favorite is their grilled smoked mozarella sammich its got pesto and grilled onions and tomato on it as well. SOoooo yummy! Just give it a shot and seat yourself and enjoy a nice pitcher of good beer!
