Food is great, but an old, run down atmosphere. PROS:

*Man-Cakes w/ Blueberries

*Smothered BA (Country Fried Steak Omelette)

CONS:

*Tattered Furniture, Old everything

*Questionable Sanitation

*Poor service

Wanted to come here since it's airing on the Food Network for it's behemouth pancakes.

Food was good, in good sized portions, but the price was comparable to those portions, so it didn't feel like you were getting a bargain.

Service could have been better. Seemed like the staff spent more time mingling with other customers that were regulars and forgot about the rest of the patrons. Also seemed a little un-professional.

Place felt old, cramped and run down. Although what was on my plate looked good, it was conversely offset by the questionable appearance of the establishment.

The food is dry. The "ManCakes" are not good. they have no flavor and are very dry. go to the hotcake house it is way better and you get a better deal on food.

HORRIBLE!!!. I saw this place on the travel channel and wanted to give it a go. Waited about 20 minutes to be seated even though there were open tables. 4 guys that were "friends" of the staff came in were seated immediately and got their food in about 15 minutes. Very irritating after waiting 45 minutes and had to watch these "friends" get their food ASAP. Finally got my food which had a small piece of a mans mustache on top, I decided to just pick it off and deal since we had waited so long. After going in to take the first bite off my omelet a LARGE 2 inch pubic hair was cooked into the egg!! Talk about GROSS!! When I notified the waiter he said "oh" and took off with my plate??? That was it...he just kind of stumbled off and couldn't have cared less. That is the point where my mother and I walked out. I will NEVER eat there again!!! The service is horrendous, and the food didn't look to great either. 2 hairs in my food? That is pretty gross, it honestly would not have surprised me to see a whole handful of hair if I had picked through that omelet. I noticed another party that was seated 10 minutes after us also walked out...This place is quickly earning a reputation for terrible service, and bad food. I would have had 10 times the meal and service at McDonald's...and I hate McDonald's! I was taking my Mom out to breakfast for her birthday and this was a bad choice...Thank goodness there are plenty of good restaurants in that area. Skip this place and go to Papa Hydens, or Besaws.

I Give this place an "F"

*Staff is Horribly Rude

*Absolutely Filthy

*Gross Looking Food

*Service SUCKS

This place is an absolute DIVE!!!!

Breakfast, it's what's for breakfast!. Went here after running "The Run Like Hell" 10k...Had the banana bread french toast with bacon. So, so good. Like the uniqueness and the customers and staff were all having a good time. I will be back for more!

The LAST straw. The food almost made it worth putting up with the crappy service and the rude hipster attitude. But after today I will NEVER go to stepping stone again!! We waited for 45 min. with our names on a list along with others. Suddenly with our name next to be called, a family walked in and just sat down! All the people waiting were furious and when we all confronted the family and servers- the servers/management said- "well, just come in and sit down there's tables available." So they were going to just let all these people wait outside without bothering to tell them tables were available? The management/servers should have stepped in & sat the people that had been waiting for 45 min. FIRST-then sat the uncourteous individuals who after seeing all these people waiting, just sat themselves. I will NEVER be back! That was the last straw! PLUS this place is filthy.

Unfriendly, Long Wait, Bad for Kids. Dont bother bringing children. The menu is not for kids, there is no changing facility, and the waitstaff are frightened by them. The food is ok, but not worth the aggrivation.

Terrible Service, bad mushy pancakes. We went to Stepping Stone recently hoping to have the pumpkin pancakes that were featured on Man vs. Food. No pumpkin pancake..."those are a seasonal thing" said the waiter. When we do get our food the side of scambled eggs was cold, I almost poured cream on my pancakes because the didn't bring syrup, and one guest had to wait at least 10 minutes before he got his whopping plate sized pancakes. When I asked for syrup and where our friend's meal might be, I got a snotty reply from the punk waiter.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PLACE.

Worth trying, but won't return. We also saw the stepping stone on man vs. food so last tuesday my boyfriend, mom, and I decided to give it a shot. First off we were barely greeted after waiting for about 5 mins. The girl at the counter kind of nugged at us and said it would be a bit. She never gave us an estimated wait time. We ended up waiting about 20 mins. We all enjoyed the food. The gravy was amazing and so was the country fried steak. If service is a deal breaker for you then i wouldn't go out of your way to eat here. I didn't think the staff was all the friendly and the bathrooms were pretty gross.

Step right in, folks. Everything's gonna be fine ... if you go at the right time.. After seeing a Portland episode of "Man vs Food," the hubby and I HAD to try this place. But then after reading all the poor reviews, we weren't so sure anymore. Still, we shrugged our shoulders and decided to experience it for ourselves and I must say were very pleased. MAYBE those who had bad experiences came on a wknd and encountered stressed-out workers. We went on a weekday morning and had no problems parking. The place was pretty full but we were seated immediately by a smiling guy behind the counter who immediately got our drink orders. The menu was diverse, mostly of typical b-fast fare along with some original interesting ones. A different guy took our food order, but also very friendly and joked around with us. Even the gal who refilled our coffee, tea and water was extremely cheerful. In fact, we liked the entire crew. The '80's tunes were loud, but it set a fun mood and our little girl danced in her seat while enjoying her fruit bowl. We ordered chicken fried steak, chicken sausage scramble, fruit bowl, and a single GINORMOUS pancake that barely fit the plate. Highlight of our choices was the gravy on the chicken fried steak. Although nothing was lip-smacking spectacular, it was still good. I didn't enter the bathroom, but my hubby did say it could use more cleaning. The last two comments are why we didn't give this place a 5-star rating. So, if you're curious about this place and want to increase your chances of nice service, go on a weekday morning.

PS - There was a local news weather girl sighting while we were there.

Horrible Service, not worth it. Good food. HORRIBLE service. I ordered fruit with my meal which I got cottage cheese. Then when I brought it up with waiter it took about 15 min to get it and it was slammed down on the table. The table next to us came after us and got there food about the same time our order was taken. Getting a refill on a cup of coffee was next to impossible! On waitress snapped a someone trying to sit down. And then to top it off they charged my credit card wrong and gave them a higher tip. I will not be going back, there are too many great breakfast places in Portland that actually know how to treat people!!!
