When my bf said 'mancakes' are as big as a plate, he means a dinner plate! Our standard diner fare was complemented by interesting 'old Portland' charm and was packed, even at the end of brunch. Clearly a neighborhood fave and now mine too.

The food is good..but dont look up or around at your surroundings, refrigerators etc.

My FAVORITE!. This little hidden gem is my new favorite restaurant.

As the other posters have stated, I found out about this place after seeing the Portland episode of Man vs Food. Upon walking up it was interesting to see the "sign up" sheet and the wait of people outside. We waited less than 10 minutes and were shown in to the cute little place. Wait time for ordering was about 15 minutes (thankfully because the menu had SO many delicious things to choose from!). The server was crazy sweet and he took the time to answer my millions of questions with an honest smile. The food took about 30 minutes or so to get there but no worries - they have $1.75 PBR! When the food arrived - we passed plates around and tried each others food. I was in heaven! EVERYTHING was so yummy! Yes, I will be back, happily. Every Saturday morning!

Also, some (most) of those male servers are cuties! ;)

What we had:

-Chicken Pesto Sandwich with ff

-BBQ Chicken Sandwich with hash browns

-Cajun Omelette and 1 Chocolate Chip Mancake

Ya GOTTA LOVE this place !!!. No frills, just consistently GREAT breakfasts. GREAT service, friendly attentive and delicious. Simply a crowd pleaser. EVERYTHING is flavorful and delicious and the portions … you'll wanna doggie ( ha … that would be "people" ) bag for sure.

Worst Service Ever. We drove from Lane County to try this place (220 miles round trip) because of the Man vs Food show. What a JOKE! After waiting to be called from the list, we watched inside and in 20 minutes, not ONE TABLE was served with food. Several people were seated before us, and then several after. Young men called you in and gave menus and water, and then stood around doing nothing. FINALLY a woman who was a waitress showed up and began taking orders from people seated LONG after we had been seated. No one was keeping track of who was first, or whatever. The young men were pretty useless. We left and went to Rose's. This place is a joke.

Worst food ever.. Have you ever took a scat on a pickle and smelt it? well thats what this place smells like.. I cant believe this place was on Man Vs. Food. I mean.. Now that I've tried this place from watching it on T.V, I dont even watch Man vs. Food anymore. The pancakes tasted like someone took a scat on a piece of bark dust and let it rot over night... in all seriousness.. This place was a flunk for me anyways.. i would not recommend it.

Disappointing, Not worth the wait.. Ever had a time where you had a delicious meal and said, "That was worth the wait"? Well the Stepping Stone Cafe is farrr from that. Now I'm not one to talk poorly of a restaurant; or to write a bad review, but this place was so terrible that I feel like I must. I could write a few pages full of why the experience was so horrible and why you should never go here, but i will sum it up into a few sentences. The waiting line (outside!) is ridiculous; youre basically screwed if its raining. Service is slow. Food is extremely bland. Dont waste your time going here.

What a waste of a perfectly good morning. After reading the reviews I really did not want to go here, but my nephew from out-of-town was dying for a mancake. So we went. After waiting an hour - during which time a waiter came outside and yelled at everyone in line to "get off their cell phones because he was talking" (okay, seriously?) we finally got a table. Of course the kids loved the giant pancakes - what kid wouldn't, but my omelette was bland to the point of being tasteless. With all the amazing breakfast places in this town (Toast, Cadillac, Besaws) I can't imagine why anyone would go here. Like being kitchy and rude makes them unique and cool. In PDX? LOL.

Don't Waste Your Time!!!!. Like everyone else, we saw this restaurant on Man vs. Food and have been trying to dedicate the time to eat there. Today we decided we would go. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. After we were seated we waited an additional 10 minutes for someone to take our order. The restaurant is filthy and there seems to be an adequate amount of staff to take care of the customers, but only a few of them actually take orders. Our food comes within 15 minutes after ordering and it is HORRIBLE. I ordered an Italian scramble and my husband ordered biscuits and gravy. The artichoke was canned and pickled and needless to say NASTY. The scramble was NOT good. The "hashbrowns" were sliced UNRIPENED and Under cooked, disgusting potatoes. The biscuits and gravy were also nothing to write home about. The biscuits were gross, we could have gotten better biscuits out of a can, and the gravy was probably out of a box. We have honestly had better gravy at a McDonalds in South Carolina!

This place is a joke, a complete waste of time and they seem to think they are a part of Portland' s elite breakfast restaurants with their motto being "you eat here becase we let you." PLEASE ban us from your restaurant because the service, the food and the overall experience is a joke and we will never eat here again!

If you're looking for a great place for breakfast try the Screendoor, Zell's, The Country Cat or Marco's. ALL of these places have amazing food, great service and decent pricing! Don't waste your time with the hipster wanna be elite's at The Stepping Stone Cafe.
