Consistently excellent food. Great service as well. Best breakfast in the city, and a very solid dinner as well. Most of the servers are excellent.

Est. 1905 Impressive history of killer breakfast. Huevos Rancheros delightfully authentic & although I am normally disappointed when my Mexican dishes don't leave my mouth sweating the flavors delivered satisfaction. Although street parking is next to impossible there is a lot on the north side of the restaurant.

Egg Problems. I went here with a group of friends this past Sunday morning for brunch, and I have to be honest with you, I was a little underwhelmed.

I had their Wild Salmon Scramble, which is three eggs, house smoked wild salmon, goat cheese, etc. This would have been far better as a Wild Salmon Omelette. The eggs were burnt, which meant the salmon got too much heat, and the goat cheese was apparently melted away. Their Rosemary Garlic Potatoes were fantastic. Problem is, I order the Wild Salmon Scramble, not the potatoes. Know what I mean?

My wife had the Salmon Benedict. What she wound up having was Two Snotty Eggs in Flavorless Hollandaise sauce. With a dish that screamed for at the very least a traditional touch of tarragon and lemon in the hollandaise, the sauce had neither. At least a little dill maybe? Nope, there was nothing but the blandest hollandaise I have ever tasted.

How do you pull poached eggs out of the liquid when they are undercooked? Seriously, they were undercooked and runny. Of course, with them being covered by hollandaise, she didn't realize it until it was "too late".

No, I am not the type to send a dish back to the kitchen. It's just not my style.

What wound up being our first time there, will likely be the last time we go there. If a group of friends decides they want to go to Besaw's, we will go, but it will not be a destination of our choosing.

poor food poor service exremely noisy. burger was very greasy, service non existent. the manager or owner should have more wait staff for a Saturday night. The waitress tried but she was waiting on the entire resturant. The manager or owner should not have the wait staff spread so thin. I will not be back and will not recommend to anyone.

Good food, mediocre service. I went here for the first time for breakfast. They were packed at 8:20am on Sunday, but we got a seat in the covered patio (mostly warmed by half-working heaters). My omelet was ok, but there was only cheese on half of it

Too Crowded/Long Wait. So Besaw's has always been good, but the more we go there, the less we feel like the wait is worth it. The place is packed and you are right next to everyone else, they might as well make 1 long table throughout the whole restaurant. Not sure about the food vs prices, food is good but not EXCELLENT and the svc is only good 1/2 the time.

The Breakfast Spot. It's been awhile since I've been there but Besaw's never disappoints. The apple sausage is delicious and you get a ton a food for the price. I went later in the afternoon to avoid the crowd.

Good food, historic locale. I enjoyed my experience here on a weekday morning. Awesome breakfast food. Since another staple for Portland, which sold pancakes "by the acre," closed its doors, this is my new favorite for the Northwest area. It's amazing what you find when venturing out. Service was quick, food was good. My rating is four stars, which means I think it is one of the best in Portland.

Love it Love it Love it. I got to Portland a few months ago and was searching for a relaxed spot to have some great, no-nonsense food with good service. Several friends, locals and otherwise, recommended Besaws. I have been here, now, no less than 10 times since arriving this Summer and have always left happy and ready to return. I've been for brunch as well as dinner and though the menus are quite a departure from the other, both have consistently been fantastic. Besaws makes me feel like I'm at home. A restaurant that can do that is certainly a restaurant to visit regularly. Thanks, Besaws.
