It's Christmas at the Zoo! (and children are not invited). I've driven by this store a few times and thought, "Well, they're paying the rent, so somebody must be shopping there. My own needs are clearly not serviced by such a store." Or are they??

I'll soon be attending my Godson's baptism and as a gift my wife suggested a hand made wooden Noah's ark mobile or play set of some kind. I called a couple of high-end toy stores around town and was getting frustrated when ding!! Christmas at the Zoo!! It's Christmas, so it's got Christian stuff, and it's at the Zoo, so well, it's got Christian animal stuff. Perfect.

I called the store and eagerly explained my needs, to which the woman curtly replied, "Um, no we don't really have anything for children." I was looking at the website, so I tried, "Not even the stuffed animals?" To which she condescended, "Our stuffed animals are realistic." She did admit that they have some teddy bears, but seemed to imply that these are NOT the sorts of bears to be played with by some untidy baby.

So back to the Noah's ark thing, I finally asked if they have any Christian items at all. "Nope." I honestly did not want to give in to cynicism and hate this store without experiencing it in any way. What's the point in hating a store? Nor was I bent on writing a scathing Citysearch review without considering the people who might actually find something to buy here. But when someone is that snooty on the phone without even knowing that I'm not an equally snooty "realistic" stuffed animal connoisseur? I'll find a less ridiculous store on NW 23rd to treat me like dirt.

Also see my review for "Festivus at the Dog Track"
