This is one of the best chocolate shops that I know of. They might be on the spendy side but I don't care. I rarely ever east any sweets or candies so I pick them up for someone else in my household. Every time I am in Portland for business my wife asks me to drive all the way across the entire city to pick up a truffel for her. The last time I was in town I had to pick up twelve two-piece boxes for my wife's group and I didn't pick the same chocolate twice. The coffee is great too and I myself like dark coffee with nothing added; here I will order a mocha. Guys, if you are in the dog house, go pick up a box of these and bring them home. Instantly you are a hero.

Pros: coffees are great

Cons: they have gabbed my leg off a few times; but I liked that too...

I hope their very high prices are congruent with the employee wages but I suspect they are not. There are many Oregon Chocolatiers that I prefer to support. It's important to me to avoid large corporate businesses which create an impersonal and watered down experience, and to my disappointment this is what moonstruck has become. Over time I have noticed a decline in Moonstruck's originality and individualism. It appears to me that they are cashing in on the corporate "chain" model. This has become most apparent in the last few months. The service has become generic, the employees all look the the same and seem to say the exact same thing, overly desperate to sell. You can tell the difference between employees that are happy in a structured environment vs Moonstruck employees, constantly trying to cooperate with policy's losing all tact, charm and personality. It's unfortunate that a once great Portland company has developed into what all of us are so tired of.....another chain. It seems incredibly hypocritical to make one's money from creative, artistic products and have the same people saying the same thing in the same stores that all look exactly the same worked by the same people that all look exactly the same..... The colors and patterns in all their stores are reminiscent of the coffee places we see on every corner. I'll never go back nor would I ever take a visitor there, there are too many authentic Portland based businesses that haven't sold out. Portland is about individuals being individual. Too bad...they were a cool P-town biz once, perhaps a new local chocolate company will spring up. One we can be proud of. One that actually represents Portland in it's true form. The new Moonstruck "mold" works everywhere. Great for them, no good for us!!!

Pros: Clean cafe chain look and feel (if you like that)

Cons: No character
