Coney Island Dog Disaster..... Great Service and a very good base dog...it's just that, well if you have ever been to New York and been to Coney Island and had a real Coney Island Dog, you will be very disappointed, as was I.

This Coney Sauce was filled with Masa Harina rather than ground chuck and I never saw one onion...what is up with that? It was like a tomato paste-corn meal concoction that had no texture to it, other than the Masa grits. Hmmmm....not cool.

I had a medium milkshake and a "Coney" dog which ran me about $8.00 which would have been fine, had it been served with real Coney style sauce.

Sorry, I love the family business concept but your sauce is way below acceptable for those in the know.

Additionally, I know that the place smells clean but there is some deferred maintainance; tiles missing on the windows, some sort of dirty build up on the floors and ceiling...I would love to see it spruced up a bit then call me when you fix the sauce, I give you another try.

Best Wishes!

best burger!!. This is a hidden gem. The burgers are nothing fancy, just a basic burger done right, and the fries are delicious. I once got the onion rings, and they were really good, but it was a huge order. They aren't good once they get cold, so if you get these make sure you're hungry. Highly recommend this place.

THE BEST burgers in town!!!. Been going to Roake's on 82 for years when I was a kid. I was so sad to see them go, but was excited to find out there was another one on Columbia. Don't make it out there too often, but when I can its worth it everytime. These have the biggest juiciest things I have EVER had. And they taste SO good. i don't even care if its the greasiest burger ever made, thats what makes it the best! Super easy to find just get to Columbia from 33 rd and head West or go to Columbia from MLK and head east. Its right in the middle! Can't miss it but be there before 7pm or you'll miss em.

I hope you're hungry! Go Beavs!. This is one of the last great family owned businesses in Portland. Roakes has been in Portland since your grandparents were kids. The Columbia location may not be as pretty as the original "drive in" design, but its got a lot of heart and amazing food. You can feed the entire family there and everyone is happy. They carry everything from chicken strips to the Nordius Maximus (2 half pound, never frozen, beef patties, 3 eggs, 1/4 lb of ham, 4 slices of bacon, burger spread, ketchup, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles.) The hand dipped onion rings are very easily the best in Portland. The fries are cut at the diner as are most of the veggies, I should know, I used to work there. The location is sort of out of the way for most, but if you ever find yourself in the area, stop in. You'll be glad you did!

p.s. this is also a great environment if you are an OSU fan. The owner is Alumni and is always willing to got o bat for his Beavs!
