Great place to take out-of-town guests!. Awesome local brewery. I love that it is such a family friendly place; there is even a play area for kids! The staff is friendly and eager to please. The food is great, and they use local ingredients. They have a fantastic steak salad that we always recommend to our guests. There is a gorgeous dessert case, too, although I never have room for dessert, darn it! It's always busy so there may be a short wait, but it is worth it! If you have a large group, you can call ahead and make a reservation. If you have a really large group, you can even reserve a room!

Good for families. Came with a buddy and his kid. The staff was really friendly and knew how to deal with the needs of adults who happen to have their kids strapped to their chests. Food wise, I'd suggest getting the pork chops with a pint of the tree hugger.

Too Many Kids. The food is good. The beer is great. The kids are out of control. When will Portland parents learn how to control their running, screaming, intrusive kids? Go to McDonald's or Chuck E. Cheese.

Not worth it!. This place has really changed. The food used to be so good and really affordable. Don't get me wrong, I like good food but we go there to have a great beer and to socialize. It seems that so much of the menu has gone high-end. Then there is the service.....sucks! The last few times we have gone, our food was practically thrown at us and then no chance of getting a refill or anything else for that matter. I think the worst was one night we were eating and the "chef" began screaming at the kitchen staff about how they ran out of food. He pretty much ripped them a new one within earshot of most of the customers. Not cool at all. I wonder what the owner's vision is for this place? It seems to have changed a lot. We won't be going back anytime soon. Now that the pizza company is closed and the NW location has always been a wreck, we won't be contributing to the owner's pocketbook! Great beer though! But, that's not hard to find in Portland. Go somewhere else.

Good food, terrible service. A few colligues and myself went to the Laurelwood for lunch. The food there is good and the fries are to die for, but we got the worst service we've ever had at a resturant. Our server came oince to take our order, and once to bring the food... that's it! We never even seen her again to ask for a water refill, more napkins, or even the check. If I do go back, it will be for the food only, as I will expect terrible service as soon as I walk through the door.
