Well people, this was the absolute worst Asian food I have ever had in my life! I have eaten enough of it to know what these dishes are supposed to taste like and these were nearly inedible. I am not a food snob, just expecting something that was at least as good as the Chinese food at a supermarket deli! You'd think i couldn't miss. You'd think! First, the Sweet and Sour Chicken was the scariest bloody color and the taste was blah. The chicken pieces that came with it were so greasy they were dripping! We also had a very bland Veggie Chow Mein: the sauce was like watery gravy and the tofu in it was as chewy as an old sponge (not that I eat those). The egg rolls tasted funny, too, and the sauce that came with my sons potstickers was very vinegary and he couldn't use it. I had to rescue my dinner with my own soy sauce at home, thank goodness I had some. I am throwing my leftovers away, sadly. My husband liked his curry but I tasted it and I've had a lot better. All in all we were very disappointed. Mostly I thought the food was flavorless and way too greasy. The portions were decent and the vegetables were nice and crispy, to give them some credit. I would have liked some bean sprouts in my chow mein though. Maybe I will try their Vietnamese fare, but I am a bit scared to be honest. My foturne cookie said that tomorrow I will find what I have been searching for, which just may be a decent Chinese/Asian restaurant in Portland!

My Canh doesn't immediately stand out as a great restaurant because it's located in a strip mall. However, some of the dishes are fantastic (and the rest are pretty good). Most everything is very reasonably priced. The stuffed eggplant, on the other hand, is amazing. It is worth a trip to My Canh for that dish alone. Everyone I've introduced to this dish love it - even the ones who don't particularly like eggplant. Though it is not listed on the menu, you can get it stuffed with tofu if you want a vegetarian option. The salad rolls are also great.
