A comfy, homey atmosphere, without the overbearing owners.. The Scene
If the thought of staying at a B&B gives rise to the terror of being forced into close friendship with the owners, fear not. The hostess of this rambling, 1890 Victorian home lives elsewhere, stopping in only to prepare breakfast and answer pressing questions. The guests have the run of the place: lounge in the living room with the paper or invite a pal in for pinochle.

The Details
The rooms are very livable with private phones in each and private baths in some. The little details--luscious linens and thick carpeting--add to the comfort of this low-key establishment. During the summer, guests relax on the rose-adorned brick patio and enjoy breakfast made with fruit and herbs plucked from the garden.
