Portland >A Beautiful Bride
when called message says phone number is not in service..
Couldn't have been happier!.
I recently got married and purchased my dress from them. It was a fantastic experience!
I lived nearby, but never went in because I figured it was too expensive. Then I saw a dress in the window I HAD to look at. That dress wasn't right, but I learned that their prices were great! I had been to several other local places, as well as David's Bridal - looking for a good deal. A Beautiful Bride blew them all out of the water for price. Their "sticker" price seemed a bit higher, but when I factored in all the "extra's" that the other stores charged you for that they didn't (like bustling, pressing, and cleaning after the ceremony, etc.), it wasn't even close.
Beyond price, the ladies there were fantastic to work with. They were more than willing to work with some indicisiveness and let me come back repeatedly. They were willing to give honest opinions - regardless of the pricetag on the dress - and wanted me to look my best on the day. I first went in alone. When friends and family came back with me, they all agreed with the opinions of the ladies at the store. I loved the dress at the store. Now having my pictures back, I love the dress even more (I think it photographed even better than it actually looked). They were happy to accommodate a "plus-sized" bride - and not relegate her to a limited section of the store.
I was so happy with them that we got the guys tuxes there as well. Again, the price was great. But so was the service and the appearance of the tuxes. They were also willing to work with the out-of-towners to make returning the tuxes super simple for them. They made sure everyone's fit wsa perfect (even doing on the spot alterations for someone whose pants and sleves came in too short). My husband, who is NEVER happy with the fit of clothing was absolutely THRILLED! Even the guys liked the place.
I would recommend this store to any bride. Because the place is smaller you might not be the "grand princess" but you will look fantastic at a fantastic price.
BEWARE. The Associates at A Beautiful Bride, measures either to big or too small, and then sends you to pay more at Valerie's Alterations. (Which is way out in Brush Prairie Wa) Out of 4 dresses...one was 2 sizes too big, Two of them, a size too small and the other dress was 2 sizes too small. Gets you to sign off on the measurements (as if we know that stuff) and then gives an attitude when confronted. Talks poorly about the Bride and her taste in dresses and how unaccomodating they are for her Bridesmaids. Told me it was a mermaid dress and that it probably wouldn't look that good on me. Pointing out (AGAIN) that the Bride should've paid more attention to the body types of her girls and picked a different dress. (Yes, she said all of us would not look good in it) Very unprofessional. Refuses even so much as an apology. A $144.00 dress ended up costing more than $220.00!!
Rude and Unprofessional.
I recently purchased a bridesmaid's dress through A Beautiful Bride, and experienced the most unprofessional service I've ever encountered! I was measured for my dress, and told by the sales associate that my size would be "x." Upon returning to the shop to pick up the garment I found the dress to fit too tightly. The associate commented that "of course it will be tight THERE on you; you carry your weight there. I suspected it would fit that way." I was a bit taken aback by her commentary on my weight, but paid for the dress and left with the number of their recommended alterations professional--and her assurance that the dress, once altered, would fit correctly. After several visits to the seamstress, I was told that A Beautiful Bride really should have ordered a larger size and there was nothing more she could do.
Discussion amongst the bridal party at the bridal shower revealed rude and demeaning remarks made to all of us during the measurement and ordering process at the bridal shop, by not one but both associates. During a call to the shop to express her dissatisfaction of the treatment of her friends and the mis-measurement of several dresses the shop refused to take responsibility, and in fact blamed each member of the bridal party instead. Though our experience with A Beautiful Bride certainly did not ruin the wedding, their lack of customer service caused unnecessary grief and worry for the bride the week of her wedding. We were all amazed at the lack of customer service and unprofessionalism in an industry that thrives on word of mouth and referrals for the majority of their business. Proceed with caution!
Horrible Service. From the moment you step inside the store is disgusting. There are rugs covering a dirty floor, dresses hanging all over the place, sun damaged in the windows even. The service is aweful. they say to make an appointment for a fitting, yet don't answer the phone or return your call. When you arrive without and appointment they scowl and "try to fit you in". The ladies that run this shop are a disorganized mess. They lack class. One lady loudly chewed gum and told me the color of the dress was aweful, with her horrid orange tan and Mimi makeup. She did nothing to earn my respect. When it came to the billing and bookkeeping, they do it all on paper. Write over everything, they need to invest in a computer, least of all a typewriter. She is slow and sloppy. I got fitted, ordered the dress and then got a call telling me about additional charges because I was fat and it was too late. Too bad I know three other people who ordered this dress two months after me, got a discount, larger than me without paying for it, and no rush fees. This tells you there are better professionals out there. Little did they know I am an Event Planner and I know a little bit about these things. I won't go back to beautiful Bride or recommend them to anyone ever, until it gets a facelift, the staff is replaced and it can be run as businesses should.
Not happy with this place. I am not impressed with "a beautiful bride". I have been shopping for a specific designer for a few months, and I found their dresses at two other local boutiques. The staff at "a beautiful bride" proceeded to tell me how neither of these stores was "authorized" to sell the dresses, and that they were the only ones that could "legally" sell them. WHAT A CROCK OF CR*P! Not only are the two other stores listed on the designer's website, both of the other stores have MORE of their dresses than "A beautiful Bride" has. I even called the designer and they told me that the two other stores were authorized! They flat out lied to get me to buy from them. Bullying someone into buying from your store by lying to them and playing on their insecurites is just plain wrong. As if planning a wedding isn't stressful enough!!! They try to make their customers paranoid so they won't buy elsewhere.
Shop elsewhere to minimize stress. The women who own the store are very difficult to work with. Getting a dress from that store was MUCH more trouble than it was worth. My advice: if you want to minimize stress in planning you wedding, shop elsewhere. Almost anywhere else in town has a better selection anyway.
Very poor service. They do have a good selection and originally seemed to have very reasonable prices, but the women who work there were not very honest with us. I bet they are not bad people, they are just VERY disorganized. As we decided on dresses, they kept adding more and more "hidden" costs. Between the time they first showed us the dress to the time we bought it, the price had gone up a ton! I originally decided to buy a dress there because of the prices, but in the end I probably could have worked with more professional people and gotten a great dress for the same price (if not less expensive).
Honest ladies, expensive dresses.
The service at A Beautiful Bride is wonderful. They were all booked up the day I wanted to come in, but when they heard my mom could only go with me that day, they cheerfully squeezed me in. The dresses were out of my price range, but they were gorgeous. It was fun trying on the stylish gowns and feeling the beautiful fabrics. Gloria was not pushy and very honest. Unlike most stores, she recommended that I order the closest size that fit rather than getting unneccesary alterations. If you do need alterations, they recommend a very affordable alterations lady named Valerie in Vancouver.
The store is tiny and the selection pretty limited. Even if I could have afforded to pay $900+ on a dress, I didn't find anything that was "me." However, it sounds like they get new gowns in fairly frequently.
One thing I did not like was the weird, curtained stage for trying on gowns--it felt very public. And although they provide a bustier, they don't give you a slip. I didn't relish standing around in my underwear with the sales lady in the room!
Great Customer Service.
Run by a group of 3 women who are good friends, they are in the business for the right reason and is shows. They have a tiny shop that really caters to their brides and make you feel like you are the only bride they have. I loved these ladies. I went to them 6 months out from my wedding date. The dress was scheduled to arrive 30 days before the wedding. BUT the manufacturer sent it to a store in Florida with the same name, and that store owner thought "bonus, I got a free dress" and put it out for sale without alerting anyone. Gloria, one of the owners, was immediately on it. She kept me well informed of progress as she searched and searched to find out what had happened. she was so upset that I didn't worry at all, she did all the worrying for me. I got the dress only 2 weeks before the wedding and their wonderful alterations woman (valerie in vancouver) took care of me immediately. Thanks Gloria and Jamie for your patience and great customer service. If I had been in this boat with Tres Fabu or David's Bridal, I'm pretty sure I would have been married in a pair of jeans.
Small, but good and these ladies know how to fit any body type in the right style. I went to between 10-15 bridal shops looking for a wedding dress that felt like me. I figure I tried on around 5-10 dresses at each shop, so that is over 100 gowns I put on in a 3 week period. When I went to A Beautiful Bride, walking in I thought, ugh this is a small store with very few dresses, waste of time. Not at all!!!!! In this small selection I tried on 8 dresses that I really liked and were all in my price range $500-$1k. The designers they carry are classy and not overpriced. I am 33 and wanted something that felt my age, not too young not too matronly. I absolutely LOVED my dress.
