Good food..different atmosphere.. Been here before and came back again. The seafood omelet is delicious. I had it with the 1/2 acre blueberry pancake, hash browns with sausage gravy, and toast. Whuuugh. stuffed to the gills and lovin it. BBuuuurp.

I'll be back again for sure.

The serve staff is kinda kinky but it's still worth coming

Open mind, big appetite, you'll be fine.!

gone downhill. Just returned from what will be my last trip to the Cameo Cafe. For years, my wife and I frequented the location in NW until they closed, and now occasionally will hit up the East side location near Sandy and 82nd. I used to love their waffles as they used a malted batter, which is hard to find anymore. It is one of the few restaurants where I always knew what I was going to order even before we got there...the waffle special with one egg and two pieces of bacon for a very reasonable $8.95. I have always endured the very mediocre coffee and the very "unique" (read: brusque and sloppy) service we have gotten in the past. Today, however, it finally reached a melting point. We were seated at the bar and the place was packed. Twice coffee was spilt around my place setting when they were refilling as both times it was done like a Cirque du Soleil stunt. There was no acknowledgment of the spills either time...No matter, I let it go. When our food arrived I eagerly spread the biutter around the hot waffle and began with my syrup strategy. Since they only have ONE! freaking waffle iron, we had to wait for my wife's waffle. Anyhow, I began eating and it tasted nothing like the waffles I have had here in the past...no malted batter and really not much taste...the worst part? It wasn't quite done...as in doughy/mealy and inedible...not even the edges were slightly crisp. This is inexcusable, and while I realized that they were busy, and that they only had the ONE waffle iron (that, incidentally was being operated by a server, not the cook and she was refilling coffee's, water's and doing many other things...maybe should have been watching the waffle iron instead?) so I was patient, and even tried another bite or two...My wife's waffle arrived and it seemed to be ok to her. I waited a little longer, politely, until I got the eye of the older woman (owner?) who has been there for years and when she came over I politely told her that my waffle was underdone and she gave me a dirty look, paused, then reached for my coffee spoon, cut herself off a chunk, threw half of it in her mouth, took a chew, and then with mouth still full of food said, "it done..." and chucked the other half of the waffle chunk across the kitchen and into a dish bin, and walked away! Seriously? WTF? We both sat there stunned, and even the folks sitting next to us were wide-eyed in disbelief. We debated the course of action from there, but decided to not make a scene and left some money on the counter and left the place. Never will go back there, ever. That was simply the rudest and most unprofessional behavior I have ever endured in a restaurant. both my wife and I worked in the restaurant industry all through high school and college and because of the experiences we have had, we give SO much leeway to our servers. It really takes a lot to turn us off.

Fusion pancake and kimchi. Always looking foward to lunch or breakfast at the Cameo. Try a kim chi omlette, tofu pancake , or crab benedict. The portions are huge - they mean it when they say ACRE PANCAKE! My favorite is the savory rice flour, cheese and vegetable savory fusion pancake. Goes great with kim chi, not so great with coffee. The hashbrowns are always great.

The whole experiece is a little ironic, but totally worth a visit. Look for the news clippings, stuffed animals and carousels

Buy a loaf of strong bread!. This place is kinds creepy, but they make this incredible bread that you can buy by the loaf. Skip the diner and make delicious toast at home.

Great Service, Great Food, Modest Prices. This has quickly become a favorite establishment for my wife and I to dine in. Breakfast never disappoints whether it is the oversize pancakes or custom built omelette. The LongLife soup is a great lunch meal.

The wait staff is friendly and dependable and always ready to give another ounce of coffee refill to the cup. The owner is there daily and adds warmth, humor and style to the cafe.

Highly recommended
