I love their burgers and the staff is very kind. They're open for breakfast and lunch, but I want them for dinner too! So good. It's a real Hollywood landmark and a great place to stop after a day of antique shopping (there are several antique stores around the corner). It feels like a step back in time and I love it.

Great Lil' Burger Joint. You get that small hometown feeling when you eat at the Hollywood Burger Bar; the food is good, and the customer service is excellent, what more can yo ask for???

I was planning a luncheon for my 26th birthday in the Hollywood district, and I was in a jam to find a place to feed my 8+ hungry guests. Everywhere else around the area needed advanced notice, had booking event restrictions, pricey menus, and a 20% tip for large parties! Many of the places booked their parties exclusively through an "event planner" that never picked up the phone, or called you back. It was so frustrating to work around all of these restrictions!!!

Then I came across this lil burger joint, and it made my birthday a heck of allot easier!!!! All I was looking for was a chill environment, where my guests didn't double take at menu prices, just relax, and get their grub on; and I found all of these things plus more at the Hollywood Burger Bar! The people that work there treated us like family; they were kind, friendly, and they even ended up giving me candles for my cake! They weren't upset about such short notice, and the large # of guests; just call about an hour before to let them know, and its all good! The place is quaint, but it worked just fine for me and what I needed. There were no issues with getting our food prompt and hot, despite the 8+ guests and other customers. This is a place that serves breakfast - late lunch, and closes at 4. Even though they had closed at 4, the staff was not pushy whatsoever, and we left around 4:20.

I would recommend the Hollywood Burger Bar not only to small parties, but for anyone that wants a yummy quick bite to eat in the Hollywood District!!

Great Customer service and just the right amount of food. On Saturday, this place was a welcome relief from eating at 'anywhere USA' . It's a place where you get just enough food, hot off the grill and the most old-fashioned friendliness and welcome. Don't expect glamour or trendy, this is the place for a reasonable breakfast or lunch, served timely and with allowance for leisurely conversation or eat and run.

The customer base was very diverse. Sitting at the counter for a quick meal seems perfect for a local to catch a quick meal.

This place has a long history, unique in 2009 for a restaurant. If I lived in Portland, I'd probably become a regular.

How did they win the contest?. My husband and I finally tried the Hollywood burger bar yesterday after living in Hollywood district for 2 yrs. and hearing this place has "won" "most popular burger" at this neighborhood's burger battle contest. These were the VERY WORST BURGERS we have ever had. The patties were burnt to a crisp on one side. Cheese was just placed on top and served (not melted). The bland potato salad not home made. We thought, "this is taking unusually long to get a simple order of cheeseburger, fries, ice tea". I wanted to say something, but the old man (must have been owner) was engrossed with filling the ketchup bottles. It's a shame because my husband and I are both out of work, and to go out to eat is a treat. Too bad we spent our money on such a bad tasting lunch. The burnt taste stayed in my mouth long after leaving the place.

Best hamburger joint in town!. Great burgers, amazing price and no pressure. I only wish there was more seating, but it is worth the wait.

From local high schoolers to workers on lunchbreak, this neighborhood diner is always busy, and never goes out of style. Breakfast standards range from eggs any style to a selection of omelets, French toast, pancakes and waffles as well as bacon, ham or sausage. For lunch, try the excellent Hollywood burger or the double-patty Ultimate Burger. Thick shakes and malts are worth the extra calories and change.

Great Old School Burger Joint. A great little neighborhood spot that serves some excellent burgers. Don't expected fancy innovations, it's just good old fashioned burgers. The restaurant looks like it hasn't changed decor in around 30 years. This is exactly the kind of place I love. Good people, good food, no frills atmosphere. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews, those guys need to get a life. The reviewer who suggested the restaurant was too close to the bus stop is absurd. It's a burger joint not a five star.

mrs. The food is great, the waitresses and waiters are very friendly and very accomodating. Try their shakes, they are the best ever. While you are there, you must have a chicken patty melt. YUMMY!

Pricey, ok. I like that they offer variation in the detail: hot sweet mustard, swiss cheese, fried egg, ham, etc. I wish they would offer grilled onions, as it makes such a difference. $5 for cheeseburger and fries is a good deal, but some of the more creative options get expensive. Good service.
