great place for the nervous customer.
Hello everyone! This is a belated “thank you” to the owner and operators of Chameleon Salon NW, specifically Liana.
I really wanted to do something I had never done before with my hair. I had been putting off a haircut for about 9 or 10 months and was planning to do something new just before we left for our first vacation in many years. I also knew I was tired of the brown rapidly turning gray color … but I was very nervous about the proficiency of the colorist. After doing some research and reading the great reviews about Chameleon on line, I decided it was where I should go.
As I mentioned above, I was VERY nervous about everything. However, Liana made me feel comfortable immediately, warm, welcoming and professional. She really listened to her client. As she worked, I could tell she knew what she was doing and my confidence grew—both in her and in my choice of Chameleon--as she worked on my hair. I now have wonderful red (!) hair with blond highlight and a great cut. I’m really enjoying my new look.
I’m looking for reasons to visit your salon again ASAP and will be buying Spa Finders gift cards for some family members with a note to try out Chameleon.
Great service; you won't be disappointed!. This salon is the greatest! Extremely professional and nice environment. Giselle and Madelyn are both amazing; I constantly get comments regarding how great my hair looks! :) Great products as well; my hair actually feels healthier after I get my highlights done..(if that's even possible!) If you haven't been there, you should go...it's definitely worth your time and money.
Incredible Salon Treatment. I've been going to Chameleon for the past year, and people frequently comment on how great my hair looks. I usually work with the Madelyn, and she is always on time, gives me her full attention, and works with me to give me a great cut and color. I can't recommend her salon highly enough.
Favorite Hair Spot in Portland.
I'm what you would call a hair-care-slacker. Meaning: I like to get my hair cut very infrequently and wait until it is almost beyond saving before I get into a salon. That being said, when I do get in, I want a really great hair cut that is not only going to be super cute, but that is able to grow out and STAY looking great for months and months. Every time I've gone to Chameleon I have not only gotten an amazing hair cut, but NO GUILT for neglecting my hair. I've been taught the easy tricks for the lazy hair-care girl, and have enjoyed great conversation, fun music, complementary wine if I wanted, and top notch service.
I can't get over how cute all the refurbished vanity stations are, as well as the little sofa and chair in the waiting area. If you're looking for the results of a super fancy over-priced salon, without the over-price, or the lack of character, this is a gem worth trying out. The staff is really helpful in helping to match you with the best stylist for your hair type and needs so make sure you ask and describe what you're looking for and you may find a stylist to keep for life. I know I have.
UNFAIR SERVICE HORRIBLE. My friend and I both went in the same day and got the same package done, I was charged more for my visit than she was, when I realized it, I told the manager, she said she cannot do anything about it. It was the most stupid conversation I have ever had, how can you charge 2 clients different prices for doing the exact same thing and think thats okay?? INSANE! Never will i go back.
You and your friend booked the same package but you had different add-on's to your packages. Your add-on was for the amount of hair you have & hers was for adding low-lights. Different add-ons have different prices. I disclosed this price during our consultation & you said it was fine. I also returned your call immediately, even after hours & credited you the $5 difference you were unhappy about. We refunded your card an additional $10 & offered you a free service to ease your frustration.
I absolutely love this salon! It's small and charming. The prices are excellent, the products are top notch, and the people are warm, attentive, positive, and great at what they do.
I went in yesterday afternoon for a deep cleanse facial and a hair glaze. My gal was Jade and she was Tops! She brought me a glass of red wine, was interesting to talk with, and the neck/shoulder massage during the facial was the best I've had yet.
The deep cleanse facial was comprised of four steps, took an hour, and my skin (which is usually overly sensitive) feels the best it's been since I was a girl.
The prices! I can't emphasize enough the wonderful value! With all sorts of promotions, packages, programs, and last minute deals - I'm thoroughly thrilled with this place. Checking around for the same services and quality, I found that they are an average 25% savings over other Portland Metro salons.
I love this place! I've only been twice. I had my hair cut in September before I moved and as June was coming to an end I was in desperate need of a haircut. I braved up and look up local salons. Chameleon was closest to my house, and affordable. They have a great website and I used the photos to get an idea of each stylists, uh, style. I decided to schedule an appointment with Madelyn. I got too antsy and made ANOTHER appointment for a week before. I went in and she chopped off all my hair. They schedule you for an hour so you get a wash and lots of time.
I liked my hair but it wasn't perfect, I wrote to the salon and right away (after hours even) Madelyn emailed me back and told me I could make an appointment. She guarantees her cuts so my 2nd appointment was free. Even though it was really me not really describing what I wanted. So I went in again and she chopped off even more bits and pieces of hair. My hair went from the longest it's been in a while to the shortest it's been in years. Pretty dramatic! But I LOVE it! It's perfect! I can blow-dry it straight and sleek or I can let it air dry for some waves. I've never been able to let my hair air dry and look normal.
The salon it's self is cool and chic without being too much. It's got lots of nice natural light and all the girls there make you feel really welcome! Both times I went in I waited for a few minutes and was able to just hop into conversation and not feel like I was intruding.
The only downsize is parking is kinda weird, there's not really a lot anywhere, maybe it's just where I'm from, but street parking is always a little off to me. But because it's small they don't seem to have a ton of people in there and I've had no trouble finding a parking spot.
If you can get there you should! All the girls are great and helpful. And it's not insanely pricey, they usual 35 bucks a hair cut type thing. It is great, give it a try, even if you don't know who best fits you just stop bye and chat, they're the best!
GREAT place. Excellent style without sacrificing a comfortable environment. It's important to me to not be talked down to as a customer and to feel like I'm among nice people - not just those out to make a few bucks chopping hair. The ladies at Chameleon Salon have been above and beyond wonderful, even fixing the mistake of a less-than-super stylist. Affordable, too! I'm going back again... and again and again.
I love this salon!. I love Chameleon Salon! Madelyn is great with color and the prices are very affordable. The salon has a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and the entire staff is extremely friendly.
Curly Hair Girl Approved. My curly hair makes me particularly sensitive to a new stylist. I'm always dreading that the person has no idea what they're doing and will cut too much of my hair off not realizing it's going to shrink up when dry. Giselle listened to my concerns and worked with me to combine two styles I had brought in. She also took into consideration how much time I wanted to spend fussing with my hair in the morning. I absolutely love it and have a had many compliments on my new do, I will definately be back to see her.
We had an issue with online appointments for a few weeks but the problem has been resolved and should be working fine now. Sorry for the inconvenience!
