What Our Expert Scouts Say

Naked City

This hip, funky, affordable shop is just right when you're having a rockabilly phase, and way more relaxing and curated than comparable mall stores. Good for accessorizing a costume too. Great shoes!

Pros and Cons, My Friends. I'm not gonna lie... I love this store. However, since I am a size 14, it does not love me. Specifically, the clothes do not love me, but the accessories do. This store has adorable clothing and accessories, if you're a small size and you have a sizeable chunk of money to drop for the style.

I was there recently, and I found the customer service to be good. They smiled at me when I came in, but then left me alone, which I appreciate. If I need help, I'll ask. I don't want someone all up on me. When I was heading back toward the dressing room, the girl asked if I needed a room, and then the other girl was very nice when I paid.

I actually found a dress there that fit, grabbed it up and took it home. What happened the next day when I went to put it on? Zipper started to come unstitched. Totally stinks, but the dress is beautiful and so I will get it fixed and call it good.

Overall, awesome store if you have the money and like to be left alone. PLEASE be aware that some of the stuff will not be the best quality, though. If you like something enough, buy it, but be prepared to maybe have to get it repaired.

Nekked City - Not for Pansies. Go to Nekked City to find clothes you can't find anywhere else. Don't go to make bestest friends with someone just because you have mommies credit card - there are plenty of other places that will cater to those that need their ego stroked. I have been there several times, and the staff is helpful if you ask for help, but does not breathe down your neck. If you don't have the b*lls to ask, then you shouldn't try to look like you have b*lls, at all. KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD!

ps. I can't believe that I can't use a term that means "to be without clothing" or any reference to human anatomy. What kind of Puritan society have we become?

Matt Stanger is soo cute!. That reason alone is good enough to make a trip into into this shop. teehee. But more than that they offer amazing accesories you cant buy anywhere else in town. I personally have never had an experience with bad customer service here, they are always friendly! Oh and their selection of belt buckles is fabulous!

Best Retro Shop on the West Coast. This shop is great! It's the only store like it in Portland. To get this type of clothing, you have to shop online or you have to go to Seattle or LA..

Message to the idiot that typed this review before mine, get some style and GET OUT OF PORTLAND!

Owner. I used to shop here but the clothes are over priced for the quality but the main thing is The owner is absolutly hands down the most ungreatful store owner I have ever met a little advice when a customer gives you two hundred fifty bucks a simple thank you and smile might be nice your business wont prosper with your additude and lack of personality the bum outside had more character!

Keeping Portland Weird?. I think I was confused when I read the review from "Nicolle Shops Portland" because she says that no matter your personality or mood, you'll find something at this store. I don't think I lasted more than 5 minutes in there... If you were thinking, like myself, that this is a store that will have good designer clothing with original styles, much like Anthropologie, don't waste your time going all the way o ver there. This is more for the modern, young crowd that are not afraid of different, vivid colors and styles. I probably should have run away after seeing the super tight smurf-colored jeans on the window but I didn't want to judge the store because of that.

I also have nothing against more punk-looking clothing, I like Hot Topic. However, I think that this store is not for anyone, it is certainly more for the crowd that keeps Portland weird. :-)

I can't say I have something concise against it, I wish they had described it better and I had not gone all the way to the store to find out it is not what I thought.

great stuff, staff and prices!. Wow, i am so suprised by these reviews, i have been shopping at NakedCity for 5 years and have had only good experiences. Sure some of their clothes are expensive but that is the norm for shopping in boutiques. you are paying essentially for someone to pick out 100's of really cool items and put them into one place for your convenience. i never mind paying the extra for such unique things i would never find for myself. if the quality of the items is not up to your standards, blame the manufacturer, write a letter to the company that actually makes the clothes! it seems like the negative reviews were probably from people who are used to being fawned over by staff. thank god this is not that kind of place. But it is the kind of place where you can find tons of really unique stuff for reasonable prices!

Low quality, high prices, rude staff. The clothes and accessories really are adorable, but they're expensive. On the rare occasion I do splurge and buy myself a belt buckle or sweater, the damn thing breaks or unravels in a matter of weeks. The quality of their items is terrible, and the high prices make me not want to shop there at all. I agree 100% about the rudeness of the staff as well. They sit around and chit chat, while customers are lined up at the counter, and they look at you like you're insane if you stand near the dressingroom with something. Like most of the hipster apparel shops on Hawthorne, you'd better have a lot of money and wear a size small or less to shop here, not to mention an ego so big it won't be bruised by the staff's inconsideration.

stellar product, downer vibe. Really cute clothes, amateur staff. It's the kind of place you want to shop in, but the kind of place that makes you want to leave at the same time. Staff seems to think it's cool to be unhelpful... like maybe saying hi or responding to a question or GIVING YOU A BAG for your purchase is too mainstream? Been here several times and the staff is way too interested in each other and not as interested in the people who come in and want to shop. In the countless boutiques etc. I have shopped, the NC staff are def. among the least helpful. They WILL answer a question but you have to really be direct and look past the obvious disinterest . The vibe at this joint really puts me off wanting to spend $$ there, and if the owner considered restaffing the place, the sales would increase. Bottom line, you can get the same gear elsewhere and not have to put up with the 'tude.

Keeping it short.... Sure, NC has cute clothes. They also have adorable shoes, purses and jewlery. However, the attitude that I get from the staff is so condescending and stuck up. The prices for their clothes are ridiculously high for the amount of fabric that it contains. The shoes are pretty reasonable but also pretty cheaply made.
