Service is. Outstandingly BAD. Never have I been ton a place in my life where it has been ok for the bartender to call one of the patrons a derogatory name in front of a large group of people. One have I ever ben anywhere where the wait staff walks up and grunts at you instead of asking hat you would like to order. How is this OK?? How can a business like this expect. To. Stay in business. It is apparent as well that unless you know one of the bartenders you will not get served.…
Profanity and Temper tantrums. Food was good and the bartender really cared. The manager "Bubba" was a short hot tempered woman. She belittled customers and her staff and constantly used profanity. We will never return to this place.…
the perfect place!. i have been in the industry for years(and years, and years.....lol) and walking in to this place is great! it is very clean and has obviously been maintained nicely. great chairs and white table cloths, nice dim lighting. i think they should print new menus, but the menu items are great-totally solid. super gay waiter was cute and entertaining, but knew when to disappear. he made up for his lack of fundamentals(as far as fine dining is concerned) by being attentive and helpful(and hey, its a nice joint but is NOT super fine dining nor is it trying to be). the food was great, timely, generous and exactly what i expected from the menu. all around awesome experience....well done guys! would go back any time!!…

My partner and I have frequented Starky?s and I must say that the food has always been amazing. The staff and owners have created an atmosphere that is welcoming and the food quality is top notch.
Starky?s is in a league of it's own.

WINES - A very nice wine list, mostly known labels, and good. The many wines-by-the-glass are healthy pours, with prices to match (Same can be said for the cocktails).
BOTTOM LINE - The food and service are First Class. Starky?s is without a doubt one of the best local restaurants in Portland.…
Worst Corned Beef Dinner ever served in the Western Hemisphere.
My partner and I went to Starky's with 18 other Metro Prime Timers on St Patricks Day(March 17, 2008). We were hoping for a non-smoking, pleasant dinner. We did not have a pleasant dinner. When we
were seated there were baskets of bread on the table. The bread was never replenished nor was the butter. At the beginning of the evening the server said that the 'other' server. was out for back surgery. There ought not to have been an explanation; they should have recruited another server for the occasion. Starky's problems in getting staff SHOULD NOT BE OF CONCERN to the customer.
My partner and I ordered salad. His salad never came nor did the one for the person across from us. The corned beef was the 'fattiest' I have ever seen. We really like corned beef and have it often. The cabbage was terrible -- cooked to mush on the outside, raw inside. One imagines that they simply threw heads of cabbage into a vats of boiling water. Water glasses were not refilled. Beer drinkers were given second shrift; lucrative cocktail drinkers were favored.
The server spent far too much time being 'cute' and flirting with the customers rather than providing decent customer service. The mere act of being Gay does not qualify him for the work he is supposed to be doing.The server seemed to have little or no training and no understanding the skillset involved in being a competent waiter.
Starky's is not too far from our house and now that it is non-smoking we hoped to frequent it. After our experience my partner refuses to return. If Starky's plans to expand its customer base they will need to focus on getting a competent wait staff. The terrible corned beef dinner is an apparent anomaly as food from the regular menu is usually adequate. I cannot remember worse service any other place in Portland where I've lived for the past 30 years.…
