Reliable. I've only gotten takeout from here since its pretty close to my buddy's apartment, but it's exactly what it seems. The food is hot, good, and there's never any surprises. What more could you ask for?

A good meal every time. Fu Jin is a great family-owned and operated neighborhood Chinese Restaurant located right in the heart of Hawthorne.

The food is always good and the service conscientious. Great for takeout or a casual dinner with the family. This is not top of the line gourmet, it is just a very good local spot.

I need to add one thing: My wife has a gluten-free diet and the staff is always very accommodating either recommending good wheat-free options or offering to make dishes with substitute ingredients.

Well.. That happened. I've been on a single minded quest to find a passable General Tso's in Portland. I've been to about twenty places just for this dish and I've noticed a more than a similarity between the "recipes" at different places. As a result it has been my fear that most of the Chinese restaurants in Portland are using some kind of freeze dried packets of ready-made General Tso's sauce.

But now- thanks to Fu Jin, I have the unhappy truth.

My food came out within SECONDS of placing the order- not an exaggeration.

Anyone who's ever cooked anything knows that something is WRONG with that picture.

Fu Jin does not make they're own sauce. If you like your mediocrity unadulterated, Portland, this is your place.

I think it's fair to assume that most of the Chinese food in Portland is done in this way. I have not been trying any other standard dishes, but I think it's fair to assume that if a particular kitchen uses a distributer's sauce for one dish, they would do it for all of them. And I also would point out that about 13 of the places I've tried had sauces identical to the one served at Fu Jin.

Oh- and it wasn't SPICY either.

What I find shocking is that this is happening unchecked in Portland. I came here, in part, to get away from the culturally derivative wasteland of America-

It's insulting enough to be charged 10 bucks for a meal that had to have been microwaved, but that places like this haven't been largely put out of business by a community that identifies itself as "weird" is just shameful. (to say nothing of it being located right on Hawthorne)

Hear Me Portland!! Close down this garbage restaurant!!!

I fear for my safety. Warning Dangerous practices for cross contamination of gluten!! The server made way too many assumptions of what he felt was safe for some one with celiac disease. He came of very rude and was more concerned about his feelings than my safety.... plus the food is pretty gross.

What happened?. ate here 6 months ago and it was delicious....consequently we went back. I'm not sure what happened but the food was terrible this time. The pot stickers were dried out. The veggie lo mein was so salty I couldn't eat it. Did it change owners?

Good Chinese food in Portland?. Pretty good food, great for takeout as atmosphere is not increadible. Extremely friendly and understand seriousness of peanut allergy.

My Favorite Chinese Place. I go to Fu Jin all the time. I always get the Sesame Chicken, extra spicy. It is fantastic, so hot I cry, but that's how I like it. I always get the same waiter, and he is extremely gracious and nice. I don't know his name, but he's there whenever I am.

Good food, nice people. I had General Tso's chicken, it was wonderful. Slightly crispy with a hint of spiciness. My wife had KungPao chicken and was equally happy. Serving sizes are large enough to share. They had about 10 specials on the white board on the wall.

I didn't like the wonton soup much. Wontons were a little doughy and the soup was a bit salty.

The waiter said they made everything at the restraunt (except soy sauce). Definitely will be going back.

Best Chinese Food in the City. This is my favorite Chinese food in any city, and I've lived in NY and LA. The service is phenomenally quick and responsive, and the dishes are tasty beyond compare. I've always been partial to the seafood and noodle soup on rainy days, it has a really good broth.

Beware of false bad reviews, I think Fujin may have some here, also Flying Pie Pizzeria, which if phenomenal. Reviews saying the food had bad ingredients when I go to these restaurants for years, it seems like competitors put in lousy reviews on these boards. Fujin is top notch.
