Smug with a Bad Smell. I decided visit this coffee shop because a heard it was good. I'll admit it's located at a very cool spot right on Ladd's Circle in Ladd's Addition. Unfortunately, when I walked in I was greeted by a foul odor, like spoiled milk. The smell permeated throughout the shop but eventually my nostrils got used to it. The employees also seemed to be drinking the sour milk because they seemed smug and very bored. The drinks were ok not anything I would go out of my way for. It does have a really cool decor throughout the place though. Maybe, caught them on a bad day but as for my last it was really disappointing.

On any given day, you'll find students nibbling on pastries and jolting themselves with espresso; first dates savoring ornate desserts and old ladies sipping tea. A variety of desserts provides just enough substance for a solid nibble, along with choice, piping-hot libations. Illy espresso--Italy's famous export--is brewed strong. Local bakeries supply the desserts, including cakes and pastries from Black Sheep.

Adorable and peaceful. When I lived in Ladd's this was my favorite place to go. It's right on the beautiful Ladd's Circle and the ambience is slow, laid-back, peaceful, and park-like. The raised book-nook is cosy and there are board games and reading material for your pleasure. My other favorite table is like a picnic table in another nook-- it's cosy and makes you feel like you're hanging out in a park, but warm and dry. The interior is really neat and relaxing-- interesting windows and hanging lamps abound. The people behind the counter are always friendly, and they always have a selection of good vegan cookies. Fabulous un-rushed hangout spot. It's the best to take a walk around the rose gardens and stop here for refreshment.

Coffee in Comfort. Palio is great if you want a low-key place to read a book, play a game, or chat quietly with friends. The cheesecakes are fantastic, too!
