Come here order the FRIES!. Check it, Nick's has the dopest fries in town. They are fantastic. Hot dogs are little but I guess that's "Coney Island" style, I've been their twice and each time I got different toppings on my dog which sucked cause the first time was real good and the second was not. So i suggest going later in the night when the big guy is cooking, he is super friendly and will come talk to you. That guy rules. Cute girls run the bar and waitstaff, they are cute but pour a light drink. Place has some good HD tv's for sports and stuff, I went down there to meet the Morning Sports Page guy's from 95.5 The Game.
i love nick's. Nick's coney island is just down the street from the bagdad. I stopped in before going to see a movie. I ordered a big burger with pepper jack cheese and it was awesome. The girl at the bar was really nice and helpful and everyone working there seemed like they loved their job. My boyfriend decided to down a few beers to avoid the high prices at the movie theatre. The bartender told me about cool stuff Nick's does at night, so i'll be back next time i'm going out on hawthorne.
Great Place!. I had dinner at nicks earlier this week and was very pleased with my experience. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was great. I had a burger and it was exactly what it should be: a burger, cheese, and veggies. Nothing over the top, just a great burger. TV's over the bar provided a very relaxed atmosphere. A perfect hawthorne spot. I had never been into nicks before they changed ownership but my friend who I was with was amazed with how good the place looked. He couldn't believe how clean it was! I appreciate good service more than really good food and the staff was truly awesome.
hooray for nick's famous coney island!. I was really pleased with my overall experience at nick's. I got the single coney island and my friend got the clubhouse. the coney was awesome!- an all beef hot dog smothered with a chilli sauce, cheese and onion. The clubhouse had real turkey and ham made in house-not the stringy deli meat you find at other places. The staff was really friendly and helpful. the owner, ty even stopped by our booth to chat. he hooked us up with some alcoholic root beer floats that were so fun and delicious! i will definitely be back to nick's
Just like NY.
Excellent Food!!!
2 Widescreen tvs which constantly have sports broadcast on them.
Music overhead from the 50's and 60's.
Very nice atmosphere!
Variety of Beers and soon to be a full bar.
The best part? The service is fantastic, especially Nina. She is a doll and probably knows more about baseball than most guys :)
NICKS RE-OPENS SATURDAY. Stopped in tonight (they were training staff)....Super nice staff. They gave me a sample. TERRIFIC. I was a huge Nicks customer and I will be back this weekend for a triple play. LOVE THIS JOINT...BIGTIME.
This time-honored neighborhood tavern is full of authentic details..
In Short
This old place has remained unchanged since the days when Hawthorne was a seedy strip of dives and junk shops, but each detail has been lovingly preserved, from the colorful 7-Up logo on the soda machine to a pink refrigerator in the back. A long row of booths, covered in black vinyl, is often empty. The walls are covered with old framed photos of baseball players. The back wall is a shrine to Neil Diamond.
Simply the best!.
If you haven't tried out Nick's you are missing one the true delights in Portland. My sister introduced me to Nick's over twenty years ago and even though I live over 100 miles away, I still frequent it as much as I can.
The coney sauce is one of a kind and Frank's love of the Yankees, Blazers, and Neil Diamond give the place enormous charaacter.
Forget about reading, just go. Go now and enjoy it for yourself. You won't regret it.
One Of The Best Spots In The City. Nick's is simply money. Great Coney Island dogs, and wonderful atmosphere. It doesn't get much better than Nick's, and the price is great.
pox1169. Nick's is a great place for good old fashion chili dogs. Lots of sports mementos on the walls and if Frankie is working it's a really treat.
