I have yet in all my visits to be thrilled with the service at Junior's, but I sure do love their gold booths and if my housemate weren't so close-minded about my amazing interior design ideas, I'd have a row of the same in my dining room. Good scrambles too. Go early if you don't like waiting for your shot at a gold booth.
I have been to this place a few times since it very close to the place I work.... I keep trying to give this place chance after chance, but every time I go here, the waitress,( a tallish thin lady with blondish, light brown hair) is a total and complete BITCH, its like, if you don't give a 5dollar tip for a 7 dollar take out order then all hell is going to break loose in this angry woman's life.(she obviously hates her job) BEWARE> I normally give 2 dollars for take out but DAY-UM! I have had a sit down breakfast here, just to be ignored and then scoffed at when I asked for a box. Do yourself a favor, unless you plan on waiting forever and getting less then low grade service, with an ATTITUDE, then skip this spot, its not worth it.. and its pretty pricey!
Eggs!. Best vegan eggs I've ever tasted. Loved the vintage atmosphere and the friendly service. It was a great place for my kids too.
Good food, good prices, friendly service. This is the breakfast place nearest where I live, so I've been to Junior's quite a lot over the last four years. In 2006-07 I had some issues with very slow service and somewhat small portion sizes, but as of the last two years the portion sizes have been large (but not overwhelming) and the service has been friendly and reasonably fast. They used to be cash only, so I was glad when they started accepting cards and I'm more than willing to pay 50 cents extra to not have to run down the block to the ATM (when they first started taking cards I was politely and apologetically informed about the fee many, many times, and really didn't care much about 50 cents!). Of course any restaurant you go to will have varying service depending on who is working at the time, but I've had a lot of good experiences at Junior's, and none of the bad ones described in other reviews. They've even let me eat there within only a few minutes of closing, when some other restaurants will turn you away, especially if you're eating alone. Great place!
Awful service.
Had a horrible experience at Junior's. After a great deal of drama trying to split the bill between two credit cards, being told rudely that there was a 50 cent charge per card, the e cards were then charged wrong - with little apology.
When we were done getting payment settled and waked out of the restaurant, the waitress charged after us screaming that we hadn't tipped enough!
It was my fault, I hadn't meant to snub her, but with all the receipts flying around I had done my math wrong and only tipped $2 when I should have tipped $6.
But is that a big enough error to come out of the restaurant screaming at me in front of everyone I had been eating with and everyone who was waiting for a seat?
I was so shocked I upped the tip and didn't say anything else - but I was very embarrassed and the more I think about it, the more appalled I am by her behavior.
The service was hardly good enough to raise that kind of fit over $4 and if she did want to check with me and see if we had been unhappy with the service she should have quietly pulled me aside, not made a huge scene.
I won't be going back to this restaurant.
Excellent! Fresh Food, Great Menu and Friendly Service.. So nice to be served by people that obviously don't hate their job. I went in on a Sunday at 10am, the place was very busy but everyone was smiling and I was happy to wait. My food was perfectly prepared and tasty, I would highly recommend Junior's.
...think twice. had an awful experience because who goes out to breakfast awake enough to realize they are cash and check only. after waiting forever and getting our hopes up on the elaborately delicious descriptions of food we were disappointed with our food, the service, and the bill. if you are a vegan it could be worth those things--i can really see that, but otherwise get a bagel sandwich at Kettleman's Bagelry just down the street.
Review on KPTV. LET US KNOW WHEN YOU GET TO 90 plus points.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we watched on channel 12 tonight and are waiting for the new review
Avoid this one. What a terrible experience! We watched someone wait 20 minutes just gor a greeting and water in the nearly empty cafe. Then another half an hour for overpriced eggs. When the waitress took a guy's food before he was finished (without asking), he tried several times to get her attention. She responded by embarassing him in front of us and the other group in the cafe. I couldn't believe how the waitress treated the guy!!! He wasn't even being rude or unreasonable, but she had taken his plate away while he was still eating! Then she attacked him and insulted him and I will NEVER go to Junior's again just from seeing that whole episode. That was some of the worst service I have ever seen in my life, she totally just ruined this couple's day- and she was clearly in the wrong. The food was decent, the decor is cute, but the attitude was terrible. Cross this one off of your list.
gorgeous-looking french toast. Great food. The most beautiful presentation of french toast I've ever seen (fresh fruit french toast). Pleasant service. Go early to avoid the wait. Child-friendly (they have some kid books and toys to keep the little ones entertained at the table).
Savory Breakfasts. Let me say that I dig the decor in Juniors quite a bit. Gold is the main color here & the place gives a feel of kitsch & luxe at the same time. The waitstaff was direct and friendly and all quite lovely little hipsters that you could feel okay having your granny meet. I must admit I've been there twice & had the same dish. But it was so good the first time I couldn't help myself. I had a potato dish called the Spicy. I added an egg & a side of chicken apple sausage to go with it & experienced a kind of breakfast bliss I have not known in a while. The potatoes are cooked to a browned happiness and the home-made salsa was some of the best I've ever had from anywhere. Infact many breakfast themed places could take a lesson from Juniors on how salsa should taste. And when I cut up some of the sausage & put it on the spuds...Oh joy indeed! Tried the Spicy without the chix sausage & it was a bit more flat than the the few days prior, but good all the same. My dining partner liked her breakfast too but I forgot the name of it. What was interesting too was how darn good the toast was. I got the italian both times & the toast light & cooked perfectly with just the right amount of buttery goodness. When I went to Juniors this past Saturday the place was busy yet nothing was compromised & my other 3 dining companions finished theirs meals completely and all were very happy. I'll go back soon & maybe try something else.
