In Short – Neighborhood regulars, guidebook-toting tourists and bookish types from all over town frequent this Hawthorne landmark. The menu is eclectic enough for picky eaters and epicures alike. Breakfast eats range from brioche French toast to the popular ELO (egg-lox-onion scramble). Dinner is seasonal, simple and ethnically influenced. For starters, there are oysters with chipotle aioli or pork-pistachio pate. Risotto and ravioli (usually vegetarian) or grilled seafood are other strong options. –
very happy hour!
by frogsoup123
we got there around 4:30ish in the middle of the week, not too many others there, but just enough, the service was not too much,or too little he did a great job and seemed to be the only server there.
the food was to die for! and so inexpensive.
raspberry lavender lemon drop is my new favorite thing!
thanks Bread and Ink
- Pros: great happy hour
Good little place
by jennn1976
Good little place, I tend to alternate between this place and cup and saucer when I'm looking for breakfast on hawthorn. They are a little more expensive than cup and saucer, but the atmosphere is more "decorated" and the servers more... clean cut I want to say? Overall a good breakfast place, I have not been there for any other meal times as has been commented on below.
Mediocre
by KSW
Curry Chicken was mediocre at best. The curry was standard yellow curry that tasted like it came from a can from Food 4 Less. The rice was also undercooked. Although I lived in SE Portland my whole life this was the first time I've been here and probably the last.
- Pros: quiet
- Cons: the food
