Holman?s has been a neighborhood fixture since 1933. We have the second oldest liquor license in Portland. Over the years, we have expanded and remodeled while retaining the charm of a local gathering spot. Serving hearty meals at all hours, we are a treat for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a midnight snack. Friday night is host to a live blues show with KMHD and Sunday mornings serve up the best do-it-yourself Bloody Mary Bar around.
Come in for our fine selection of beer, wine and cocktails in both smoking and non-smoking sections. While you?re relaxing, you can watch a game on the large screen TV or play video poker in the game room. Don?t forget to take a spin on our Meal Wheel ? if you win, your meal?s on the house!
*We have Happy Hour 7 days a week from 4pm to 6pm with food and drink specials.

In Short
The atmospheres here range from an old-school bar with retro blue-vinyl bar stools to a vinyl-themed dining room to a more formal dining room with tall windows fronting the street. There's also a nice patio out back. The menu covers the all-American basics, from pasta and sandwiches to surf and turf. The patty melt is a perfectly gooey combination of a burger topped with grilled onions and Russian dressing, served on grilled rye bread.

Holman's is a dive bar, all night diner with goofy drunken people, three in the morning when you can't see going home just yet, Sunday morning brunch with a good pal developing brilliant business ideas and subsequent meetings to close the deal, sort of place. The wait staff is vaguely friendly and decent, but they leave you alone to chat and are usually available when you need them. The food is diner mediocrity perfected. The wheel spinning is cute and kitchy, as is the decor, which only adds to its general good vibe. This is a great Portland place.

I only go here if I'm hangin out in SE, and only after I've stopped at a few other bars. The food is kind of pricey, but it's large portions. The mac & cheese bites are pretty tasty. Also, the crowd is pretty funny, everyone's usually pretty buzzed so you might catch someone actin a fool, or a sweet fight. Last time I was there, there was a fight, or a prelude to a fight you might say. One guy says "back off, you're looking at me like you're on acid", and tempers flared. Hilarious!

This is an awesome place to try! Really good drinks and excellent breakfast choices any time of the day! Sometimes too crowded, and staff is running but they do a good job getting your food and drink to you.
