Beautiful selection of carpets.. We recently bought a wool carpet there. Love the variety and the service. Will shop there again anytime.
International feel-good shopping--with a slightly hip edge..
In Short
This chain promotes trade with folk artisans and independent workers in Third World countries. The store's stock is surprisingly current, an ethnic version of the home department of Anthropologie (but without the hefty price tags). There are tall wooden statues of Kenyan warriors; onyx pyramids from Pakistan; carved and painted critters from Indonesia. Wearers of folksy jewelry will go for charms made with Coke cans and silver and semi-precious stone earrings.
Great Goods, Great Service, Great Cause. We just purchased a beatiful side table made out of salvaged Indonesian hardwoods with a lovely granite top. Although the retail clerks at the store are volunteers, we received some of the best service that we've ever experienced in PDX. All are questions were answered in a friendly and knowledgeable manner. It's nice to nice know that you can buy quality merchandise that supports a great cause - fairly paid Third World employees. Shop here and recommend it to friends!
