What a glorious resource....
So here I am doing yet another quirky course and this time I need to make a mixture of essential oils and use it daily to infuse my life
with ... well. Get yer own course!
It''s Sunday and I"m reading through what I need and hoping I have it already in the house. Let's see - patchouli.. got it (somewhat embarassed to write that) and wha? Verdivert oil? Cedarwood at least I've heard of but the rest of this not only do I not have but I've never realized there's an oil.
Off to google I go. Aha! Open Sundays - down on Hawthorne street so I can go to the bagel place too (NOT even remotely embarassed to type that) and maybe the bead store will be open. Escential - I decide to go in spite of the punny name and it's more than I expected - much more.
Clean - white and clear and delightful to browse in. Behind the counter is a white haired woman who is gracefully handling a long line of requests as people edge up to the counter and their children sniff every single sample of oils and fragrances. Around the store is the usual soap and massage oils but then there's shaving lotion, diffusers, and some pretty cool skin care and beauty products. Behind the counter is a staggering display of every oil you can think of in various sized bottles. It's like a candy store for the olfactory oriented.
I hand her my scrawled recipe and proceed to change my mind several times over how much/what base I want etc. and this lady was so very patient. After she dripped bits of this and that into a small glass jar (and noted my recipe for me on a card the store keeps in case I lose my own copy), she charged me 8.00 for the mixture. 8.00. I priced the oils when I got home and if I were to buy small bottles of each kind to mix my own I would have paid about 72.00 to gather them all off the internets.
So. They're open great hours, they are in a wonderful place to head to for the afternoon, the sales people are truly kind and very gracious, and they're more than affordable. Go visit.

Custom Scents.
This place is great. I love making my own cologne and perfumes. Its a great place to get a gift for someone special.
They have the largest and most diverse selection of oils to sent your lotions with.
The price is fair too. Its much much cheaper than buying those overly priced bottles of perfume at a department store. Plus its tailored to your likes.
My only complaint is their measurements are inconsistent. They don't have a method for exact amounts of oils they add to a lotion. Really all they would have to do is use a eye dropper with mL on it. That way they can get it consistent every time you buy.

Cute store, friendly staff.. This little shop has lots of lovely bath and body products, essential oils, and makeup. It's a great place to just hang around in for an hour and experiement with the products. They don't pressure you to buy or to leave, you can just put makeup on to your hearts content, or try the lotions, until you find the right thing! Almost everything has a tester.
