We love Joseph!. First off, the environment in the salon is relaxed, clean and friendly. As far as haircuts go, Joseph is stellar. He eyeballs your hair while you describe what you want, and all the while you see him in the mirror studying it like a math problem, gently pulling at strands here and there, measuring, preparing it like a delicate meal. He's not one of those get-you-in-and-out kinds of hairdressers. Joseph consistently does an awesome job and I know it sounds a cheesy, but I always leave feeling special. Another perk is that he does kids cuts too! My daughter loves him and he does the cutest little girl bob. He also doesn't mind when she climbs all over me when he's cutting my hair. The neighborhood is fun to visit and a trip to Saint Cupcake or Stumptown is usually in order afterward.

Joseph is AMAZING!. I've been going to Joseph for about five years. He is the best hairdresser I've ever had! Within this time I've tried other hairdressers - out of recommendations or what have you - and they've always given me boring, plain haircuts. This never happens with Joseph. In my super vague way, I can convey to him what I'm looking for and he is always spot on. I recently brought a friend in to see him and Joseph completely fixed her hair! For a month, all of our other friends kept telling her how much they loved her haircut. She will definitely come back to see him. You know, its not just about the haircuts and color though. Joseph is extremely pleasant to be around. He is a great conversationalist, interesting and insightful. I enjoy his company and that makes the whole experience really fun! Go see Joseph NOW! I promise you won't regret it!

Joseph, you're the best!. Joseph listens to me and really seems to care. If I don't know what I want he'll run ideas by me until we figure it out. He's always enthusiastic and eager to please - wether it's moving in a new direction with my cut or color or just doing the usual. I have been going to Joseph for almost 7 years and I don't know what I would do without him.

Get Lillified!. When I first moved to Portland, I searched high and low for a great hair stylist and colorist. After plenty of dissappointment, I saw Lilly at a bar and asked who did her hair because I loved it. After she told me she did her own hair and was a stylist by profession, I knew I was in for a treat.

Over the past 3 years, I have had just about every hair color imaginable, pink, purple, blue, green...as well as, blond, dark brown, red. Every time I get my hair done everyone I know is amazed how amazing the colors, whatever they may be, look like they were meant for me!

I've also had extensions by Lilly when I was trying to grow my hair out and now I'm loving my new feather extensions! At only $5 a bunch, it's a great way to spice up your 'do without a permanent committment!

One of the BEST finds since i've mooved here.. My husband got transferred here for his job a few months ago. We have made some great discoveries and disappointments here in the Belmont/Hawthorne area. Meleni at Propaganda was the greatest discovery for us both. My husband actually found her first. Upon his recommendation I thought I would give her a try, since i've not been happy with the previous 2 salons i've visited. I'm very happy to have found her!!! So nice and by far the best color job i've ever had. A treasure of a stylist. We will be back to see Meleni. Go here!

Thanks to my talented stylist!. I just have to say thank god for city search! I have tried a few places to get my hair done with great disappointment. After reading the reviews here I decided Meleni was who I wanted to see. She gave me exactly what I wanted! And I couldn't believe how affordable it is :) A little hard to get an appointment with her, but a great stylist is in high demand, and worth the wait. Thanks Meleni i'll be back.

10 years younger and 10 lbs thinner. Recently moved from Utah and going into Propaganda, you are welcomed by friendly staff, great music, and a feeling of "glad you're here." Joseph listened to my ideas, offered suggestions and proceeded to give me THE BEST CUT I HAVE EVER HAD and I'm 60 years old. Joseph has a client for life. Thank you Joseph.

Fantastic Haircut at Propaganda the Salon. I've been going to Propaganda for over 10 years and Scott (owner) has always cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and if I wasn't sure how I wanted it cut, he would come up with a fantastic look that suited me.

Scott definitely knows what he’s doing! He is always nice and more than that, he actually cares. I can see this when I watch how he treats his clientele…not just me.

Even if you choose to have someone else take care of you, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

While you're there, you can always walk across the street and a cup of coffee or espresso at Stumptown, the best coffee in Portland...by far!

this is the place. I was that guy. The not-quite-old-guy-who-should-give-up-the-long hair-and-rejoin-society. I hadn't cut my hair in almost ten years. Part of my paranoia about chopping it off was finding the person whom I could trust. Scott Kane is frankly a dam good practitioner of the Scissor Arts. Sheesh. What a great cut. I felt great as I saw what he was doing. And, dam if I didn't look really good when he was done. I'm still receiving compliments. With simply his instincts, and my skittish direction, he made me look like a new man. Above and beyond my expectations.

For a great cut and color!. Mel a hairstylist at propaganda is amazing! Every time I go in there, I come out feeling beautiful! Mel has not only a great personality, She has great techniques for cutting and dyeing hair! I fully recommend calling and making an appointment with her. She wont let you down!
