Editorial Review for Loprinzi's Gym – by Otis Rubottom
In Short
With all the basics--free weights, Nautilus and Universal machines, treadmills, Stairmasters, stationary bikes and rowing machines--Loprinzi's offers whatever weight apparatus or cardio device visitors might be seeking. The gym offers aerobics, yoga and stretching classes, plus a sauna and a steamroom for post-workout treatment of tired bodies. Loprinzi's is pretty down-to-earth, with a wide spectrum of people making use of the neighborhood facility.

Loprinzi's gym is remarkable in a number of ways. Often called a neighborhood gym, that description is apt but misleading. Its a neighborhood gym with the finest equipment available for strength training... plenty of free weights and the original Nautilus machines (considered by many to be the best ever created). What is absent here are rows of cardio machines, huge crowds, and lines of TV sets with the sound off. Signed photos of body builders from the golden age line the walls. Young and old frequent the machines, and Bob Hill, owner for the last 14 years, watches over the place. He will be happy to show anyone how to use the equipment, at no charge. No membership cards required, as Bob will remember you. And this kind of personal, local feel to the place is the most unique characteristic of this place. You are a member, not a number.
Pros: Bob Hill the owner, Finest equipment, A classic gym
Cons: parking, tightly packed space

Loprinzis offers the best workout facility in Portland. The ambiance is awesome in Loprinzis. The equipment is old, but in awesome condition, and runs perfectly. Bob Hill, the owner, has more than enough free weights, but also has an excellent cardio section with top quality tread mills and elypticals. I'm a world class powerlifter with a world record under my belt, and I've worked out at all the top rated clubs in Portland, and my opinion is the Loprinzis is the best in Portland. Just a side note, Bob also offers quality instruction for those that ask for it free of charge. Bob is an accomplished powerlifter as well as a marathon runner. You can't ask for more than that.
Pros: Inexpensive, tons of equipment, awesome atmosphere
Cons: limited parking
