Editorial Review for Flying Pie Pizzeria – by Sylvia Lindman

In Short
Tables hang upside down from the ceiling; knickknacks, board games and video games keep customers busy while they wait. Here, diners get in line to order, grab a booth and pick up their own pizza and utensils. There are more than 30 different toppings, including oysters and soy cheese, plus two different doughs and four styles of crust. The tender-crust calzone is also very good. The small but well-stocked salad bar is an added bonus.

This was the first pizza place I found in Portland that actually hits you with the fantastic garlic, bready, spicy aromas you should smell in a pizzeria! From the moment you walk in, you know it's going to be good. And it is good! And it is HEAVY. We love this pizza, but it is very loaded with cheese and all the great toppings. Be careful of your arteries and balance it salad. There is a large downstairs room that is good for larger groups. Probably a good idea to call ahead for reservations for groups over 6 -10. Very casual atmosphere. Good for kids because there's lots of noise already.... but it's all fun noise.

Pros: Wonderful pizza, casual atmosphere

Cons: Save up your calories for a meal at this place!
