In Short – Stacks of cases, simple wine racks and house-printed signs belie the fact that this is one of the top places to buy and sample wine in the country. You can find wines from every region of the world with one thing in common: They each exhibit the delicate balance between quality and value. The attentive staff is ready to help you select wine, cigars and wine accessories. –
Portland's Best Wine Shop
by maupinman
I've had the pleasure of patronizing Mt. Tabor Fine Wines for several years and it is simply the best wine shop I've ever been in (and I've been in more than a few!). Sandy, the owner, gives everyone his personal attention and has never given me a wine recommendation that was less than very good. Try the Friday tastings. You can't go wrong at MTFW.
- Pros: Great value, Good advice, Friendly service
wine for all
by 1_foodie
I often wonder if I should tell my friends about Sandy's. I want to keep this place secret. Sandy has an incredible memory and can tell you in detail information about each wine, the winery, food to pair it with, what is similar but different. He is amazing. Bang for the Buck each month is great. We can not walk out of there without buying a mixed case; something different everytime for a great value. Why buy from a gracery store when you can buy from a real wineshop? Don't tell anyone. I want to keep this place to myself.
- Pros: very knowledgeable, great value, excellent service
small but PERFECT selection
by thechowhound
My personal favorite wine store in Portland. Relatively small (but not too small) selection but EVERY choice is an EXCELLENT one, in any price range. Choose a $12 cab and it will be an outstanding $12 cab. Every bottle they sell is carefully thought out. You simply cannot pick out a bad bottle of wine there.
- Pros: selection, quality
