Large,fun space for parties and dancing but incredibly understaffed.Food not great but it's ok.2 dance floors, always mixed crowds.

The Spare Room is an up and coming music venue in Northeast Portland which is ironic since it has been around foreever.
Thanks to the smoking ban, The Spare Room is now a great place to see music (no more bad smoke smell). Most weekends you can see a great variety of quality live music for NO COVER CHARGE. Not only that the drinks are very affordable, plus there is a dance floor, ample room for seating, and if the place gets really crowded The Spare Room even has a second bar to get drinks at so there is rarely a wait to be served.
Thursday night Taco night is great, particularly if a Blazer game is on. Imagine this, live music, the Blazer game on plazma and two for $1 tacos it really does not get too much better than that, particularly value wise.
Yes the Tacos are good and so are the breakfest specials. Spagetti night is also affordable and tasty.…
Stinky old bowling alley. So, the Halloween decorations were creative, but that's where the Spare Room's charm ended. It's smokey and smells like what it is, an old bowling alley. I'm sure if your already drunk and want to enjoy some Guitar Hero, it's a blast. But for a few drinks after work with friends, not the destination to choose.…
