I wouldn't call it Mexican food.... ..more like Mexican themed food, maybe? Maybe because I used to live close to the Mexican border. The food is certainly not like anything I ever ate in that country. I've gone back a couple times, and the staff is always friendly and the service is good, but the food doesn't do it for me at all. I wish they'd fix the food or get out of the way so someone else can sell tasty food in this great location.  View Less View More

So many Pinatas!!. This is a WONDERFUL Mexican restaurant! Whenever people from out of town come to visit I always take them to Acapulco Southwest Gold! The food is flavorful and served quickly. The service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere makes it a wonderful dining experience. I love all the pinatas hanging from the ceiling and the dozons of hotsauces lining the counter. I definitely recommend this restaurant. It's a multnomah gem!  View Less View More

Consistent quality, friendly staff. The food has a "homemade" touch to it, the menu has ample variety for a small place, the servers are always a delight. Love the peasant plate and the taquitos. Terrific selection of hot sauces. Great shakes and malts.  View Less View More

Tasty Food. Great place to eat. Good food, good service, nice people. Great for lunch hours because you are served quickly and can get in and eat and get back to work.  View Less View More

Perfect (for what it is). I give this place 4 stars keeping in mind what it is: a local, small, casual, Mexican-ish joint. That's to say, it's not the same 4 stars I'd give to the restaurant at the Heathman, for example.

But it's got a lot of things going right . . . the service here is great. Everyone's friendly, prompt & attentive. Food comes out fast. The food used to be pretty mediocre, but has recently improved. They're doing delicious things with chorizo these days. The prices are incredibly reasonable. It's not gourmet food, it's not fancy, but it's comfortable and comforting.  View Less
