I live and work a block away. So I'm in
there a lot. I think they have great food, drinks, music and service. The servers and owner are friendly too. There are televisions all over the place for watching a game.
I have never seen an argument, much less a fight. I have never seen anybody urinate outside or otherwise get out of hand. I have never seen anybody overly drunk there. Just good people having a good time!

Good food. They make hamburgers by hand. They're the good old home style kind of burger with the juice running down your arm. Nice variety of cheeses to top it off. Yum! The fries are hand cut and crispy. It's a small place with friendly service and a hardworking owner who cares about his business, his customers, and the community. Renner's is a welcome mainstay in the village.
STAY AWAY! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!. This place apparently does not have a bathroom. I see all the patrons using the facilities outside often. Even if they do then you are most likely walking through it just to get inside the bar. But hey if your an alcoholic apparently the bartenders there will never cut you off no matter how drunk you get as long as your paying. Also a great place to look for a bar fight so I hear. Literally, I live in the area and I hear the fights. For you ladies out there, if you wanna be harassed and flashed by old men also a good hang out. I can't even walk past the bar past 10pm anymore. It is a nice cute local bar and in a great location, to bad some bad apples have to spoil it. Oh, but to you criminals out there I was informed that if you publicly urinate, flash, threaten to hurt someone and hide in the bar, police either can't or won't arrest you.
Great Place to spend an Evening. My wife and I were staying for a few days in Multnomah Village and every nite we ended up at Renners - great drinks and great conversation and laughter .. .even though we were not locals we felt at home the moment we walked in. Robin the bartender remembered our names the second nite (magic?) and the third nite we chatted with the owner a half hour - he's got a heart as big as Portland! This place is a gem - we'll be back whenever we're in the area - as close to Cheers as we've ever found anywhere - and excellent beer on tap to boot.
Best Eatery and food in town!! New Chef!!!. This place was the best I had in awhile!! The prices were good it was very clean and the owner was super outgoing. The drinks were cheap and my friends and I had a good girls night out.
Greasy, dirty and rude. Seriously, clean the joint up. After what I saw, I wouldn't let the neighbors barking dog eat there. The owner was arrogant and rude. Need I say more...
Wanna get shot at?. Police responded to a bar fight with gunshots fired on December 15th and were unable to catch the assailant. This is not the kind of thing I want to deal with when I'm going out to have a cocktail. Sure, it could happen anywhere. But they are notorious for bar fights. Probably has something to do with all the illegal substance activity. Call me crazy, but Portland bars are a dime a dozen and there are tons of other places I'd rather spend my money. The food is bad, the service is bad, the clientele is bad. They have some cool rodeo stuff on the walls, and you can tell this place was pretty nice once upon a time. But now its just a crapper.
It's all about Wednesday night!. My review of Renner's only applies to nights....I do not lurk in bars by day. I love this place...I really do. It may not have pool tables...it may not have fancy shmancy 50" plasma tv's....but who needs that to have a good time? I don't have much to say about the food...I have ordered from the bar menu and it satisfied my needs at a reasonable price. You may be wondering at this point...why the 5 stars??? Well let me tell you something....There was a farmer had a dog. EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT!!! BINGO IS ON! This has gotta be one of the best Wednesday nights around...all year round. It can get packed at times, but get there on time and you will find a seat. This place is very welcoming to newcomers. There are three lovely ladies running the show most Wednesdays...one bartender, one bar b*tch(yes that is her title), and possibly the most enthusiastic BINGO caller of all time. Come to have a good time...it isn't a serious event...but the cards do cost money, which goes into the p0t which can fluctuate from $20 to $100 or so. The service is great, but can slow down as the place gets packed due to their being only one bartender....if you aren't getting your drink as quickly as you need it, there are always jello shots floating around with the bar b*tch that sell for a dollar with an option of whipped cream for no extra charge....NICE. Renner's is a great bar to hang out at all nights...it's cozy, everyone is friendly, prices are reasonable, and service is great. Lastly, If you don't like the color red this place may not be for you....there is a lot of red.
Best Food In The Village. This place has some of the best food in Multnomah Village! 2 or 3 specials everyday and almost everything is made from scatch, including the classic home-made cakes & pies. Although it is 100% smoking, you really don't notice it much because the new owners installed all new air cleaners and ventilation equipment. It baffles me why anyone would stand/wait in line at the other joints nearby. A missed oportunity! -- Perhaps it has the appearance of a lounge from the outside? PS: Cool little lounge in the back (seats about 10-15) with honest drinks & a weird Happy-Hour that starts at 7AM in the morning through 10AM. I nominate this place for the best breakfast & lunch in town, unless your looking for trendy.
